Buy at your own risk. I realize that this is "black november", and things are going to be discounted, but even the cheaper Chinese RGB mech. keyboards are usually like $25-$35.

One way that they can make them cheaper, is to subsidize them with PRC malware, that records keystrokes, and then plays them back in the background to a web form over the internet surruptitiously in the background when the keyboard is idle.

I'm not saying that these keyboards ARE doing that, only that... it IS possible, and these keyboards are... SUSPICIOUSLY cheap. Even a cheapo membrane RGB keyboard is generally $25-30 these days.

Eiter way, I'm in for a few for builds and spares for friends / friend's kids, etc. Maybe I'll just give them as XMas gifts.

Edit: It is a type-A USB connector!

Yes suspiciously cheap, but they look decent, get good reviews, and even have the detachable USB C cable it seems like my Ducky keyboards.

I don't think that the USB cable is detachable. Look at the last picture for the item. Looks like a moulded strain-relief.

But I see USB-C connection listed further down in the specs.

So, perhaps that's why this keyboard is "cheap", it comes with USB-C rather than USB Type-A, and thus, either needs a mechanical adapter, or a PC with a USB-C port to utilize. Would work nice on a modern laptop, they generally include USB-C, but for most DIY desktops, unless the mobo AND case are VERY new, they won't have that. Some mobos have USB-C in the rear I/O bracket area, but that presents some issues for plugged the keyboard in and out.

Hmm yeah I looked closely at the last picture and it does not appear to be a detachable cable. Maybe they mean that there is a USB A to C adapter included? Not sure. In the specs they say USB + Type C for interface type.

Maybe a question to ask Newegg.

Also see an $11.99 mechanical RGB keyboard from the same seller. The $12.99 model boasts of adjustable RGB light features in one picture. Perhaps the $11.99 keyboard RGB is not adjustable, if so, I would spend the extra $1.

Using a Tecknet X705 keyboard which looks nearly identical to these models, key cap lettering a bit different. It's heavy, with what looks like a metal plate on top where the keys are mounted. RGB "rainbow" design where the colors are fixed at each key, but brightness and various strobing effects can be adjusted with key presses.

Any feedback from buyers here? Did anyone receive some of the $12.99 keyboards?

Poised to buy several for gifts at this price, but sold and shipped by 3rd party is making me cautious.

I did buy them. That's how I was able to vouch that they have USB Type-A (standard) connections. They work OK, sometime you have to hit a key twice, as it doesn't always register.

Half of the deals that I post, roughly, I'm also a purchaser.

I bought both laptops from Walmart that I posted, though I didn't buy that cheap air-duster.

Thanks Larry. Maybe the keyboards will get better with just a little more use. I might bug you again about them. Some switches have a self cleaning make & break wiping action, but IDK if these keyboard switches will do that.

Missed but watching the $17.50 Best Buy Clearance REDRAGON - K552-2 Kumara blue key mechanical keyboard, back up to $25 + shipping, about twice the price of this deal.

These keyboards are seriously cheap. And I don't just mean inexpensive. All of the keys are working great... except for 'L'. It's hit or miss, whether or not when I hit L that it registers.

Another deal but usb type C.

GTRACING Mechanical Gaming Keyboard 60% Colorful Backlit Wired Ultra Compact 61 Keys Mini for Computer PC Laptop Windows Type-C Blue Switches GT882

clip 5% off coupon and use promo code 60E8NYEK and you should see $13.96 price.

I have a type c on my motherboard. Would this work or is it just for charging. Don't know that much about type C.

The USB C connector goes to the keyboard on this, as the cord is detachable. The other end is a USB A connector, so you can plug that into any USB A port. If you look at the first video on the page, you can see what I mean more easily.

Thanks for looking at the video. I saw the pic of the type c plugged in the keyboard but I didn't see the other end.

FWIW they have a gray full sized keyboard for the same price after clipping the 5% coupon and using code 60V2F9ZP. Reviews are sketchy though. The smaller keyboard deal is dead.

Thanks, snagged one of these and got it pretty fast. Looks nice, works well on one of my laptop workstations, replacing an ancient Silicon Graphics surplus USB keyboard that I've had for like 20 years.

Not the KB in the OP, but...I purchased a (similar?) RedDragon KB a few years ago, it was $25 iirc. It's still sitting in a box in the basement, but I did plug it in to test it when it first arrived (seemed to all work fine).

I bought it originally to cannibalize if/when I needed for the Cherry MX Red switches that the board came built with. For the price, it seemed a decent purchase just for the switches.

In my experience (waste small amounts of money on cheap mechanical keyboards) the very best value, best looking standard American keyboard layout (what keys letters/numbers and symbols should look like). Is the Aukey KM-G12 in either Red or Blue switches. I got one for $30 the red switches and the blue switches for $25. I use the red switches as a daily driver keyboard.

Probably lower if you have an associate's code, here's mine if you want to use it IEEBBBXBMKP8Z4E
The keyboard you listed (Z12) is a membrane keyboard and not the mechanical version (Z15)
Oh shoot I didn't even realize that, I assumed it was mechanical when they mentioned MX Caps lol
I noticed that, the switches use Cherry type posts, but the mounted switches are membrane. However...I DID use the associate's code on a Z15 KB, and shipped with tax, it came to $42 (saved $5). Thanks for the code, @legcramp !

One of the biggest pros that I see on the Z15 is hot-swappable switches. That feature doesn't seem too common on anything but custom-built KBs, otherwise you usually have to rip the thing half-apart to get at the switch mounts.

Strange, NewEgg cancelled my order of the keyboard in the OP, so I ordered the Amazon deal, happy with it... then like a zombie, my NewEgg order rose from the dead and shipped. They've already refunded my money, so... free keyboard!

LOL, that's a better Hot Deal than the offer that I listed.

These keyboards are not too bad. They are small and are great for a spare PC or a back up board. I got two and so far the one is working very well. The other is NIB and the spare.
