I'm looking to upgrade the memory on my friend's iMac G5 (yea yea i know.) She currently has 1x256mb PC3200 DDR occupying 1 out of the 2 available slots. Will any unbuffered non-ECC PC3200 400hz DDR memory be compatible? I want to add 1GB to the other slot.
You can have mismatching pairs in the iMac, but I read something about how it would only perform 64bit vs 128bit. Will this have a significant impact on performance? I'm thinking either generic 1GB for $100 or err "Ramses" for like $127. Is it worth it to get the Ramses over the generic, or should I just get her Crucial, Samsung, or another better known brand, albeit for like $150+?
She's doesn't really do video editing or games or nothing like that, but does usually have 10 or more apps running at any time. Thanks in advance
