Alright, quick rundown of my situation: I have the rock 939dual-sata2. the current ultimate cd from gentoo includes gentoo-sources-2.6.12-r10. The tulip drivers that get loaded has an issue with the ULi M526X integrated ethernet thingy. After a fair amount of searching at 4:00 AM i found that the kernels after 2.6.14 have fixed this problem.
Problem: how do i get 2.6.14 instead of 2.6.12 on the cd? Since i don't have internet on the gentoo os on my computer i can't just emerge it like normal people and i can't find the file anywhere. And even if i did i would have absolutly no clue how to set portage to use that file instead of trying to get to the internet (i attempted to install link2 last night to from a cd... didn't work, or rather, i probably did it wrong so it didn't work)
[edit: is this what i'm looking for?]
[edit 2: thought it might be helpful if i said it was amd64 that i was installing so preferrably i would install 2.6.14-r5 since packages.gentoo.org says its stable]
[edit 3: I think i found something, i'm putting in a new portage snapshot into the cd, hopefully that will work]
