What sort of woman gets involved with a national pariah at the peak of peoples' hatred for him, and while he's still married?

What sort of woman lies to a man about being pregnant with his child?

Is such a woman likely to be completely normal and emotionally stable? Or might she be a bit borderline, not too far off from the women who marry convicted murderers who are in prison?

Might she be the type to lie in other ways, like ways which might get him in big trouble with the police, during an argument? Might she be the type to use his infamy and reputation against him when tempers flared? To play into what the public and police already believe about him?

Is it possible that this was a fairly mundane argument where both of them lost their temper and acted like trashy idiots, but that she augmented it with some well chosen lies which she knew would land him in jail? "That'll teach him" ?

Such behavior is far from unheard of during domestic spats.

I'm not really sticking up for him. I'm trying to hash this out in my own mind, and figure out what I think went on here.

If you look at my earlier posts in this thread, I was forcefully against GZ on this.

As I found out more nuance to the story and saw a few red flags, learned more info, heard the 911 calls, etc... I began to wonder if I might not have jumped the gun.

Truth be told, at this point in time I still lean more toward thinking he acted like a piece of shit today and probably did threaten her. I'm just trying to work through it "out loud" and bounce considerations off others.

Zimmerman does seem to have the same kind of lawless arrogance of OJ, and he is risking the same sort of outcome: committing some relatively penny-ante crime and ending up in front of a judge who decides to use the opportunity to sentence him for an alleged murder for which he was acquitted. I still find it mind-boggling that OJ got 30 years in prison for trying to take back some property which probably belonged to him in the first place. I am no fan of OJ but I can't call that a just outcome.

Then again, our opinion on the legalities and evidence related to 2/26/12 stand unmoved. The evidence and law spoke clearly about that night, well into the territory of "reasonable doubt" and beyond. The jury's decision was unquestionably the correct one within that context.

I can think of two members here who would cheerfully nominate him for Citizen of the Year. I don't think he will ever be a model citizen, because he has something of an anti-social streak and simply isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. There is a reason he is a community college dropout at age 30.

I think human nature suggests the odds are against him making a recovery from this downward spiral. He clearly does not have a social net to help prop him up from the despair of having been character lyched and having his life ruined, forever scarred.

I place the likelihood of his recovery as grim, and he may ultimately become a threat to public safety. The man needs help, but he might not seek it.

GZ was arrested, like, right away minutes after shooting Trayvon Martin.

The moment the first officer arrived on scene and became aware that GZ had shot TM, GZ was held at gun point, then handcuffed, then put in the back of a police cruiser, then taken to the police station, then held there without the option of leaving for hours, and hours, and hours.

The reason he was eventually released, the next morning, was that all of the evidence and witness testimony was lining up with what he claimed happened, and that never changed.
