Get $15 for taking bestbuy survey... the AT effect!!!

There was recently a thread regarding a BestBuy survey that offered $15 to survey candidates...

Well... many of us filled out the survey and.... the survey company is less than pleased!!!
Look at the email I got from them:

Thursday, August 21, 2003 7:21 PM -0500

You recently completed a study for Best Buy, but unfortunately, you were not
among the original email list of invitees. The email clearly states that
the offer is not transferable. Can you tell me how your received the link?
Was it posted on a message board or in a chat room? If you received the
invitaion to participate via an email message, please forward the message to
me so we can track the source.

Best Buy cannot use any of the responses collected from people who were not
on the original invitation list. The company will decide, once we have all
our data, whether or not to reward participants who where not invited, and
you will be notified. Meanwhile, I would appreciate any help you can give
me in tracing the source of the posting, if that is what happened.

Thanks in advance for any information you can share with me to shed light on
the situation. If you prefer to call me, you can reach me at 866-821-2572.

Hate to break the news, but there is a whole world outside of AT.
The survey was posted on at least 5 other deal sites I can name. Not saying the users of AT can't have an effect we all sall that when there was that thread of self promoting and the company apologized. My point, you can't say that AT users were solely responsible for this.

Who cares who was responsible for it? The point here is that BB SUCKS!! They want feedback from a survey but they want to hand pick the participants. Gee, I wonder if the survey feedback will be positive? Best Buy is Great...now can I have my $15? LOL

Who cares who was responsible for it? The point here is that BB SUCKS!! They want feedback from a survey but they want to hand pick the participants. Gee, I wonder if the survey feedback will be positive? Best Buy is Great...now can I have my $15? LOL

It sickens me when I see people respond with quotes like this when these sort of issues crop up. Just because Best Buy offered the survey to a limited number of their registered members does not mean that they "hand-picked" the people. Think of how many members are registered at BB; if they offered $15 to every one of them, then the company would be looking at a considerable payout. Sure, not everyone would participate, but if you offer the survey to, say, 10,000 members, that's a whole different financial story than offering it to hundreds of thousands or millions of them. It is ridiculous for everyone to think they have a right to the $15 and get bent out of shape when they don't receive it. If you were not offered the deal by the company, then you do not have a right to receive any payment. Period.

Actually, it probably is. Best Buy is a publically traded company, and many 401k plans and mutual funds own Best Buy stock. Needless to say, those stockholders would be pissed if a bunch of greedy Hot Deals ferengis cut into the companies' quarterly profit and made their stock go down.

OMG! You're right! I never thought about it like that! I'm never going to buy anything from BB again unless I pay full price because I definitely don't want to be the one responsible for taking food out of the mouths of all those poor stockholders. Plus, I won't have to worry about being called a "greedy Hot Deal ferengi".

You guys all want something for nothing. They didn't 'hand pick' those people. They randomly choose some people from their database and send the email. When giving out money, you don't just go blindly giving it out to everyone... You all want money, then turn around and 'oh I don't wanna take food out of their mouths' in a sarcastic manner.
