just picked this up yesterday along with coldplay (which i dont like...yet).

but this cd is damn good. definitely not like their other albums. almost folksy/ballady music, but excellent nonetheless.

anybody else pick up (or download) this cd?


oh...and i searched "white stripes". if this was posted as something else...thats just dumb.

i think people are going to be really divided on this. its not a hard rocking album...not even much guitar (a lot of piano), so i think some people are going to be pissed. but if you take it for what it is, its really well done.

It's definitley not what I expected based on previous albums, and to be honest the only song I like right now is Blue Orchid. But I think with a few more listenings I might be able to pick out a few more songs to like.

The ONLY song I dont like is blue orchid. I was really suprised at how much I like the album.

Never liked the white stripes and never will. They are just a mediocre poster band. Other bands have done this style of music better than the white stripes, but dont get the air time cause they dont have the Abercrombie & Fitch look. Oh yeah, the drumming sucks too.

"Cold Mountain". The movie was "Cold Mountain", and yes, the soundtrack for that was VERY good. He's got an obnoxious amount of talent. "White Mountain(s)" was the name of a book in the Tripods trilogy.

Oasis? Really? I really hated all of their singles in the 90s. I mean HATED. Have they totally changed their music? If not I suspect the white stripes are more to my taste.

My main complaint with their previous album was that it was too heavy in places. So I'm expecting to like it a lot. I just picked up the cd and am planning on listening to it on the way home.

yeah it wasn't what i expected after Elephant. I was expecting them to rock the f*ck out, but its alot different. The only song i listen to is Blue Orchid and the rest might grow on me eventually, but not right now.

Abercrombie & Fitch? I'm gonna have to go ahead and disagree there. Historically I'm not even a White Stripes lover by any means, but pulling the A&F card is a little off-base.

I'm curious to hear the album.

Meg's drumming is pretty sh!tty, though. I've seen them live a couple times and it's worse in person.

Not a fan of The White Stripes at all, but I agree with you on X & Y. It's OK, but I like 'A Rush Of Blood To The Head' much better. X & Y isn't terrible, they picked the best song for the first single (Speed of Sound), but there's really only a couple other songs on the CD that I like (What If is pretty good, Swallowed in the sea isn't bad in the middle of the song)
