Get "Fry's Electronics" Hot Deals By Phone

I noticed there were some people who wished to get in on the hot deals at Fry's, but didn't have a Fry's B&M nearby. Well, Fry's Electronics has posted a phone # to take telephone sales.
If you would like to purchase products over the telephone using the Telesales office at the Sunnyvale store, please call the Sunnyvale store at (408) 617-1300 and ask to speak to the Telesales department.
And if anyone knows where you can get a look at Fry's advertisements online when they come out, please post it here for those of us not near a Fry's B&M.

Not to thread crap, but beware. Fry's normally ships out returned products when you order through the phone. Some people even ask to make sure if the item is new, but they still get used ones. They do the same in the B&M, but at least you are able to look yourself to see if it's got all the parts.

Just beware, though: sometimes things don't work out, at least not right away.

I ordered a WDC 60GB 7200 rpm drive for $200 before a $75 rebate, and they didn't ship it with a rebate form, and now they don't have any left. They're not quite saying "Rebate? What rebate??", not yet anyway, but it's still unclear what's going to happen. (Especially since even if I magically got a rebate form now, it may already be too late to mail it in.)

At best, I've wasted a lot of time to get this hot deal. At worst, I may have to pack the thing up and ship it off, potentially eat shipping charges, and potentially challenge a credit card charge.

If so: some bargain.

We'll see if Fry's come through or not. I can deal with some incompetence -- that's part of being human. But malfeasance is another matter.

Wolfgang.....
I would call up the credit card company and ask them what you should do about it.
You have been charged the right amount but are still defrauded in a way.
Either way, I would talk to the customer service of your credit card companies.
I think any reversal of charges results in the merchant being charged a fee of about 35 dollars or something, so the credit card companies are always willing to give your case an ear. Amex and Citi are particularly receptive and helpful.

Thanks for the heads-up. I am learning after a few experiences of my own (ie. CompUSA) that it is worth spending a few extra bucks to deal someone that is reputable.

Fry's sucks, folks. I'm there nearly every week because frankly they're the only ones in the area that carry what I need, though. If you're not able to deal with them in person you should avoid them!

In case some of you don't know how big of a phenomenon Fry's is in the bay area, though: The sunnyvale store alone averages over 200,000 visitors a day. I can't imagine trying to overcome that noise when trying to resolve an issue remotely. =(

I still consider this is helpful. I don't mean I will order by phone from them, but it is a good source for PM'ing. I remember a week ago Frys had Creative Nomad Jukebox for $149. Some people from Bay Area could PM with Staples while I couldn't do that coz there is no Frys in New York metropolitan area. If Frys takes orders by phone, Staples has to PM with Frys in my area.

Anyone know what kind of shipping they charge? I've been trying to get them to order a Dreamcast VGA Adapter from an out of state Fry's for me because all the CA ones are out. They keep telling me that's impossible.....

On my WDC 3.5" hard drive ($200 before suddenly non-existent rebate), they charged $14 for UPS ground, as I recall.

It really don't matter cause as Tazmania99 said, PM'ing, cool, here I go, but I still wish we had one here in the Phila area

200,000 visitors a day at Sunnyvale store? No way!! If they're open from 8 am to 9 pm that's 13 hours. 200,000 a day is 15,384 per hour, or 256 per minute of every minute they are open. That's impossible, even during Christmas. I've been there and its not that busy. Maybe 200,000 visitors per day at all five Bay Area stores but not one store like Sunnyvale. The population of Sunnyvale is only 130,000.

Yeah,
Fry's is THAT bad. Yet, they can be very good. Overall, in terms of condition of product, they let many people get away with stuff that is past being nice. Returning something (big like motherboard or speakers) with a half torn box? Come on, that mandates a penalty fee to the returner and a discount for the next potential buyer.

Yeah, I did the math. That's their claim, though, not mine. Maybe the manager's just a little too proud of being a fryologist.

The best thing about fry's is being able to rent stuff for thirty days. That's the secret reason people tolerate the place, right? =)

Hehe, I was looking around Fry's a while back, when there were good deals with the RT314 Router.

They had a lot of them stacked up with $149.99 pricetag. Ok, so I take a glance, and I see this box literally smashed. It's thickness was about the thickness of the router itself. And they had that on the shelf for sale at $149.99. I looked at it and had to laugh.

But hey, when you go their, make sure that you are getting unopened products. Fry's is a good place to shop for those who are aware.

OUCH, thanks for the insight Rude Boie, Hell around here you here all sorts "o" crap from BB, CC,Staples Ect., just for opening the stupid box to look at it , let alone return sonething in a " non-resale condition ".
Still I wish we had a Fry's here in phila, cause I like to buy and return (when necessary) in person, guess it's something about looking them square in the eye, to see if they knew it was a POS to begin with.

Quick question for all of you people who "rent" the products at Fry's (like me):

Do they track all of your returns? Will this inhibit you from returning a genuinely broken product if the need arises? Are there any problems for "renting" the products too many times?

Fill me in! THanks!

I would rather call it "try out" than rent. When you "rent" you pay something for using it, but if you "try out", you don't pay anything when you return it.

I do agree what most are saying not to call when buying something from Fry's. They have a lot of returns and you never know what they will ship to you, it could be an opened item if they don't have any new item on the shelves. Also if you don't like it and decide to return it, you may eventually have to pay for the shipping charges. One more thing, you get to be pushed around or have to wait for a looong time before talking to someone with brains.
