Please - I've driven many a 240 since 1989. That is NOT a sports car.

If you were anything but sports car history idiot you would realize the 240Z hasn't been made since 1973

Stop while you are ahead. The 280z hasn't been produced since 1978. If you meant the ZX it hasn't been produced since 83.

Your confusion is between the 240sx, which is really no slouch either, and the 240Z

Edit: Note as a Ztard I have an unfair advantage

Edit2: GA won't let me have that vanity plate (Ztard)

Its 4:30 am and my mind isn't firing on all cylinders.

You win.

I was recalling the 240sx (the "sports car" made my nissan during the late 80s, early 90s that some people like to jump on)

so again, I was mistaken.

11s:
Buy an 87 mustang GT for $3k, pull out the motor, buy a 347 shortblack for $3k, buy a nice set of heads, intake and cam for $3k, buy a procharger for $4k, and put $2k into the rest of the drivetrain.

You've got a 10 second car and $15,000 left over.

Or buy a $10k motorcycle, and runs 10s stock.

But to be completely fair I've always confused the older nissan lines. 240/280, etc.

I still remember prom with my bud's supped up 2xx something back in 1988 doing doughnuts in the parking lot. That thing was fast. then college with buddy's what I think was 1990 240sx - decent car. Then went to buy one in 1996 (some 240 something) hoping it would have the same pep as my buddy's. Not. No power whatsoever, like a base civic.

Then flash forward to seeing guys driving the same car (the same model that i thought had power but completely disappointed) with a big fat can on the back and blowing them off the road with my humble sedan.

anyway.....my arse should have been in beed 6 hour ago.

1. Buy a cheap V8 Camaro or Mustang
2. Gut it
3. Headers, Catback, Racing Cam, 4.10/4.30 gears, chip, ignition upgrade, suspension upgrades
4. Racing Slicks
5. NOS kit (100/150 shot )

11's

This Reply was almost identical to mine!

But yea, Any 87-93 Mustang and Build a motor/supercharge it, and strengthen the drivtrain and BAM your GTG for 11's!

Two types of cars come to my mind,

Mustang 5.0
AWD Turbo DSM 1990-1999ish. (Talon, Laser, Eclipse)

Both cars are very fast stock,.... very easy to upgrade and have a huge after market for parts.

I never owned a Mustang, but I have a 95 Talon AWD Tsi. Hella fast,.....
You can buy one for around 5k-6k,...
Under $1000 in parts will get you in the low 13s,....

So with 30k,... you should be able to maybe even break into the 9s,.... with the car still being street legal.

I Dunno,......

I don't know about the DSM's but I would perfer the Torque of the Mustang.

The torque of a 30k Mustang would be unreal.

But, the g force you feel on a launch of an AWD DSM is crazy.....

I'd either buy a well built racing engine for my VW from Cram Auto here in Omaha (the dude used to race pro, knows his stuff), or put in a Porsche or Subaru engine. I'd probably try to keep it aircooled so I didn't have to mount a radiator anywhere.

For about 8,000 I'd buy a chipped and modified Porsche 944 Turbo, put another 5 or 6 thousand into it, be hitting 11's and pocket the rest.

ZV

EDIT: This way my car could go around corners too.

take a
2000 Toyota MR2 Spyder(2150lbs)($13k)
Get a Hass Stage II turbo($4k)
Aquamist 1s Water Injection System $489.00
60lb (630cc) OEM Style Injectors $279.00
Manifold and Turbine Housing Thermal Coatings $135.00
Manual Boost Controller $75.00
Monkey Wrench Racing Stage 4 Fully built race engine - $7000(1zzfe)
Darton Sleeves - Toyota 1ZZ-FE($339)
The charge to install this engine in your car at MWR is $650.
(has all studs/big bore pistons/MWR upgraded valve springs and stainless valves/ full port job/stroked/sleeved)(82mm bore, stroked and then sleeved for strength=almost 2.1-2.2L from 1.8l originally.)

add a little bit of tuning form the turbo and you'll easily hit 260/270hp maybe 300hp is possible.
=$25067 plus a whatever it costs to install the turbo it foy cant do it yourself.(probably around 700 in labor)

oh yeah, you'll need a roll cage, 5 point harness, seats, to meet track regulations.
then, you'll need a new clutch since stock would survive maybe 1 launch at that power.
then you might want TRD short throw shifter to get faster shifts and thus lower 1/4 mile times. then you'll want a 6spd manual tranny from the 2zzge so yuo dont get hampered by the close gearing of the 5 spd. and yuo'll also want a custom ecu programmer. it shoudl cost around 30k total.
