Just rented the tape yesterday and I have no clue what the movie is about. Especially at the end when the lady jump off the bridge. What kind of crap is that. She tells the Guy (Tiger) to make a wish and then she jumps off. What a way to end a movie. :|

This is a legit copy of Crouching Tiger. It was release on vcd sometime last year in Hong Kong. Saw yesterday in SF Chinatown for $18.99

I was in Hong Kong last September, and legit VCDs are selling at like USD $3-$4. They are sold in big video stores. Legal VCD are so cheap now in HK, people don't really buy pirated VCDs anymore, may be just the new release. But then again, a lot of people prefer to wait because the legal ones are better quality. I am Chinese, and I do not particularly care for this movie.

Yes, "Crouching Tiger" is indeed a legit release, since this movie was out last July in Southeast Asia.

I ordered the DVD from yesasia.com. It is Region 3, so you'll need a DVD Player that can be set to Region 3 (not "Region Free" or "Region Bypass," as Columbia Home Video uses RCE Protection which prevents this type of playback).

I definitely would not say this ... best of year! . Not enough dialogue...mostly action...and the martial arts are kinda cheesy especially when they're flying around. If you guys seen any of the martial arts series (made from books to movies and consisting of something like 26 episodes), those guys flying around or using their "chi-gong" looks more realistic instead of bungie jumping cords like Crouching Tiger uses.

...but overall, it's a decent movie well spent at the movie.

legit VCDs are very cheap in HK now. I was back in HK this Christmas and picked up quite a few of those. It cost me only HKD$15 each! Great deal! People rarely buy pirated VCDs unless it's a very new release, but they often have very bad quality cuz they are all cams and they cost HKD$20 each.

Its probably a smr file.....labeled a vcd.....which means its super bootleg (recorded with a cam in the freaking theatre).......stay away from this!!!!!

Hmm...well, I don't know how many of you are Chinese or know what fantasy martial arts is or seen as much chinese movies as I have, but I've seen better Chinese martial arts movies then this. Some are even more extravagent than Crouching Tiger. I know this is all suppose to be a fantasy, but considering the budget they used for this movie is way over the top (I think $15million vs $2million average) compared to other martial arts movies with better action/story.

Like I said before, this is worth watching, but not the greatest of them all....

Acutally smr has an original vcd release of this encoded in nAVI so that proves that there is an original vcd which yessia.com or whatever its called is probably selling.
