Get the WD 120GB at Fry's B&M for $99 after MIR (or less) instead of CompUSA

I just picked up the Dallas Fry's ad for this weekend, to peruse what might be available, and discovered two things:

1.) Fry's and Outpost.com have merged, and

2.) Fry's B&M stores have the same deal on the WD 120GB drive that CompUSA had!

Fry's also has "The Complete Low Price Guarantee", which states:

"Before making a purchase from Fry's, if you see a lower, legitimate verifiable in-store tagged price on the exact same item from a local authorized store on the exact same in-stock item, Fry's will be happy to beat the competition's price"

What THAT means is that you SHOULD be able to pricematch this drive to the one at Best Buy, and get it for $199.97 (or less--they DID say they would "beat the competition's price" after all) AND the $100 rebate just like at CompUSA!

Unfortunately, Outpost.com doesn't pricematch, so you won't be able to get this deal there.

Now, git out dere and git dem drives!

Oh, by the way--I already got one of these drives at CompUSA (thank you very much Anandtech Hot Deals Forum!), but when I got it home, it was DEAD!! I had to call WD THREE TIMES in order to get an "advance replacement" sent to me next day, so I should get it today, otherwise I would jump on this deal MYSELF!!

The Best Buy Parklane store had 9 of them on Tuesday when I got my drive, but I'm not sure it has to be in stock, reading the price guarantee. Also, there's probably several other Best Buy stores that have them in stock around the Metroplex.

I was following the thread with Comp USA 120 WD Drive deal, and all my local Comp USA have been out since Monday night. What I learned on that following the thread and link to rebate, is that it the rebate looked like a Comp USA rebate.

Is there a rebate for $100 if you buy this at Frys., I remember seeing a PDF of the rebate, and it said "bought at comp usa"?

Maybe I will just go with the Sams club 100 gig deal, since they seem to give rebates a lot easier as per people comments, and since I dont like dealing with Frys., Will follow this thread , however, because Best Buy is not open here yet, and see what everyone thinks..

All you do is treat the deal like the CompUSA deal--you go into Fry's, tell them that you found the price at $199.97 at Best Buy, they verify it, you pricematch it at Best Buy's price and then you walk out with the drive and the $100 rebate form.

Thanks for the heads-up, God man, hard drive prices keep dropping and dropping. I thought the WD 60GB I got a few weeks ago was awesome for $105 ($1.75/GB) But, if this works out (as it really should) then a WD 120GB for $0.83/GB is freakin' INCREDIBLE! I'm gonna drop by Fry's today and hopefully pick one up. I'll let you guys know if it works out (hopefully I can get there tonight before Best Buy sells out, otherwise Fry's is not gonna PM cause that whole 'in-stock' crap, LOL)

yes, i read the whole thread. maybe i missed something but i was under the impression that best buy had it for $199. but when i go to their site it comes up as $299. so what did i look past?

#1. Best Buy's Local stores have it for $199. The online price is different than the local store price.

#2. Fry's has it for $299, But they have a pricematch guarantee.

#3. Go into Fry's and pick up the Hard Drive. Get a customer service rep then to price match it.

#4. Pay $199 for the Hard Drive at Fry's. And remember to grab the rebate form.

#5. Walk out the store, dont let the checker guy look at your bag, just for the hell of it. (its illegal for them to force you to show them your stuff)

#6. Send out the Rebate, and in 4 months, you should have a $100 check in hand.

Here's the deal:

Go to Fry's B&M
Pick up Western Digital 120GB Hard Drive
Take the drive to the register
Have Fry's Pricematch BestBuy's In-Store (B&M) price on this drive of $199.97
Walk out of the store
Cut out the UPC from the Hard drive box, take copy of receipt, place in envelope, send to WD Rebate department
6-8 weeks later, open your mailbox, BAM! Check for $100 in your mail

Might want to edit the title, Get the WD 120GB at Fry's B&M for $99 after MIR (or less) instead of CompUSA, since it is a little misleading. I thought I could get this deal at Outpost.com from the title, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered reading it. Good deal if you can get it, but unfortunately no Fry's on the east coast.

Maybe if you did not read the CompUSA threadCompUSA thread, it would not make as much since.

) into Frys in Dallas an hour ago. Took them to the counter and they pushed it through.

As a side note, I spent 30 minutes trying to get a BBuy with stock and there service right now (at 5 of 7 stores) was HORRIBLE! They were short, unhelpful, and mostly long hold times and unavailable. However, Fry's sales guy got through and verified it all first try!
