Get the WD 120GB at Fry's B&M for $99 after MIR (or less) instead of CompUSA

You are absolutely totally wrong. The constitution says nothing about police officers or representatives of the government at all. There is no way whatsoever that they can force you to allow them to inspect anything on your person. If they could do that, any person on the street could stop any other person on the street and inspect them. Fry?s has no authority to do that at all. The most that they can do is refuse to let you in their store the next time. They can?t even detain you while they call the police legally. We had an instance of that at the Vons grocery store recently, when two guys stole two bottles of beer. The result was that the guys sued Vons, and won, and the the manager was transferred to another store. Allowing Fry?s to look in your bag is only a courtesy to them, nothing else. Anyone who really thinks stores like Fry?s has that right is surely on drugs. Costco does it too, and I have talked to people who work there, and there orders are if a person refuses, they simply let them go, and revoke their membership.

PerryTexan, lurker supreme, I assume you're talking to me. I don't think you get it. The Fourth Amendment DOES permit searches and seizures that are considered REASONABLE. Only does the 4th protect you by a violation of a legitimate expectation of privacy. I.e. spycams in a restroom violates your legitimate expectation of privacy. Waiting in line with all the other dumb asses at Fry's does NOT. You EXPECT your bags will be searched. You can see it looming up ahead. Your choice? To return your goods and walk out intact or get reasonably searched.

It doesn't matter what store policies do about people that refuse to be searched, but they are not violating your rights by doing so.

This is the very reason I don't come here much any more, and why I post deals even less often!

Zoner, I don't know who you are, or why you are responding to ME regarding what someone else posts.

I have no concern whatsoever regarding Fry's policies regarding whether or not they look in your bag as you leave.

As a matter of fact, with the large number of thieves out there, *I myself* would probably have such a policy in MY store, if I didn't have electronic "inventory control" monitors at the exit (which most Fry's stores I've been to do not).

If you have an issue with someone or what someone says, take that issue up with that person, and leave unconcerned people out of it.

If you wish to create an issue with ME, I would be more than happy to meet with you face to face to discuss it.

I can't believe discussion of a hard drive deal has turned into a debate over the fourth amendment. You guys are too much.

The thing that all the holy rollers on here fail to grasp is all these legal arguments mean absolutely nothing at the end of the day unless you're truly willing to hire a lawyer and spend thousands of dollars on your case. And since all of us on this board are cheap bastards, that's just not going to happen.

So you can threaten your class action suits and wave a copy of the constitution in front of the manager at CompUSA, unfortunately, in his little world, you either play by his rules or you don't play at all. Life is cruel, but you'll live.

I was in BB today to get a totally unrelated item but somehow ended up walking down the aisle where the HDs are. I noticed the WD 120G still had a $199 shelf tag. Upon closer inspection I also realized this tag was printed yesterday. I grabbed the tag and told the BB clerk I was going to take it (he knows me from shopping there alot) and he said "fine by me, it's for one of your crazy pricematch deals, huh?", to which I just grinned and left. I went to Fry's and after a bunch of phone calls to verify price and availability the Fry's Salesgirl gave me the quote sheet for $199 and as I walked away she reminded me to make sure the cashier gave me a a rebate form.

I must have been really lucky because the first BB she called was out of stock and the price was $299. I told her which BB I got the tag from and she called that store. She was on hold about 5 times with this BB for a total of about 30 min. First they said they were out of stock, then they said they said the computer showed three but the guy on the phone couldn't find them, and finally he said the price was $320. Luckily the Fry's girl was getting impatient and said "I don't care what you think the price is because a customer has one of your shelf tags dated yesterday with $199 on it, I just want to know if you have any in stock!" THe guy at BB said the computer showed three, and BTW the price IS $199, but I can't find them. THe Fry's girl said to heck with it that's good enough for me, what's your name blah blah blah.......and I got my $114 120G HD.

The Fry's rebate is good if purchased through the 13th of December, and it has to be postmarked within 14 days of purchase.

I am sick and tired of Fry's trying to pretend they can randomly decide how and when they are going to abide by their "price match" policy.

I am sending/faxing copies of the shelf tag and receipt DIRECT to their corporate office, with a stiff demand letter.

I have had it with these stores playing F*cking games with their price policies.

I will let you all know if I am successful.

Its that or get arrested for kicking the sh*t out of one of their store managers.

I am going to have corporate make a special phone call to my local store manager... I want to be able to tell him to F*CK OFF... (after I make my purchase of course).... and to remember me.... cause I'LL BE BACK (next hot deal).

Along the lines of security checking you on the way out.

In my area they have a habit of either punching the receipt or simply writing something on it. It
just annoys me. I don't mind them looking at my receipt.

Recently I started stating to the security guards that if they write on my receipt they are defacing my
personal property. The receipt is now my personal property and I don't want it defaced. They usually
look at me blankly but I insist that they don't mark it. I tell them that they can look all they want.
Gets some strange reactions though.
