<< #5. Walk out the store, dont let the checker guy look at your bag, just for the hell of it. (its illegal for them to force you to show them your stuff) >>
1) Why wouldnt you want the guy to look at your bag? Its not as if you are stealing something. You did pay for the HD right?
2) Its not illegal to force you to show them your stuff. You are inside the store, and all they have to say is that they have belieft beyond a resonable doubt that you stole something and they are just making sure you're not (similar to the Fifth Amendment) >>
Unless you're being searched by a police officer at Fry's, security guards and/or employees of the store are NOT subject to the Fourth Amendment (Unlawful search and seizure). This means they are justifiable in searching your person when exiting the store. In addition, a violation can only occur if that person subjectively expects some degree of privacy (i.e. cameras in a bathroom would be a violation, but shoppers getting their bags checked when exiting a store is not).
Even so, I walk right past those idiots every single time. When they initially adopted the policy, I had a few chase me out into the parking lot (until I asked to speak to a manager, of course).
