Seeing Voodoo 1 in action for the first time was still the most amazing experience. The GTX 980 was my favorite modern card, with it's fantastic power and OCing characteristics. The GTX 780 was great too, but it made my PSU cry. The GTX 460 was my best OCer, but it heated my entire bedroom by several degrees in less than 1 typical play session, so I got an HD 5870 until I got a free 560 TI and then a used 6950 2gb because why not.

My laptop has Intel Iris Pro graphics. It's no GTX 1060, but it's good enough for many titles. It makes you wonder if I'll even be bothering to buy a discrete graphics card five years from now.

I think that's all of them, the cards I've used and abused. You see, I switch camp like nobody's business, the dirtiest of the dirtiest, my unfaithfulness knows no bound. I have the stench of both AMD and Nvidia all over me, making any fanboy stomach turn. I've even inserted a Radeon into the same slot just moments after a Geforce had been in there, where its smell still lingers and vice versa. My games sure liked it, they ran better and looked better.

Honestly, I have not game'd in over a year, just impulse bought a 1070 which will be paired with a first gen i7(i know shoot me), for one more round of Steam Christmas sales. And if pc gaming can no longer hold my interest, I will probably be off saving the world or something.

For my main rig (as I probably have a couple dozen GPUs on the go right now) as far as I can recall it's been.
S3 Virge
Diamond Stealth 2 S220
ATI 9600 XT
ATI 2400 Pro (passive)
AMD 6870 - Start of Bitcoin mining and GPU accumulation(
AMD 6870 CF
AMD 6950 (unlocked to 6970 shaders)
AMD 6950 CF
AMD 290
AMD 290 CF
AMD 390 CF

Shockingly not nearly as many systems as I'd think, considering the time span. The S3 came with a computer and got dumped for the Stealth 2 because it was unable to acceptably play Jedi Knight. Moved to the 9600 XT when I built a new 2500+ Barton system as it was the best card in my student price range. When I upgraded that to C2D (a massively OCed E2140) I wasn't gaming much, so a quiet PSU and silent cooler mated well with a passive GPU. I bought the 6870 on a BF pricing error with a new 2500k system, and that was the last of my real GPU purchases. After the 6870, Bitcoin silly season started and I haven't really paid for a GPU since. That's also contributed to a pretty substantial AMD bias in the last 5 years or so, since nothing nVidia has provided reasonable ROI even if they might have offered better gaming performance.

2011 - AMD 6670
2013 - AMD 7850

Upgraded from the 6670 because it couldn't really handle Skyrim that well, even at 1024x768. And it died with an ENB.

Only card that looks decent enough to upgrade to is the AMD 470 8GB, but that thing's hella expensive. I only pay £80 tops for a piece of compy hardware.

Some of the old ones strain my memory, but I think it went like this:

Riva TNT2
Geforce 2
Radeon 7500
Radeon 9800 Pro
Geforce 6800GT
Long break from PC gaming
Geforce 460m
Geforce 660 (SLI)
Geforce 970
Geforce 1070

More Nvidia that I would have thought before listing them.

The earliest card I can remember was a 4600ti. I had computers before that but was too young to remember what graphics card they had. The 7800GTX was the first PC I bought and built myself.

Nvidia 4600ti

Nvidia 7900GT
Nvidia GTX 260
Nvidia 9800GT
Nvidia GTX 870M (laptop)
Nvidia GTX 970
Nvidia GTX 680
Nvidia GTX 970 SLI
Nvidia GTX 980ti
Nvidia GTX 950
ATi RX480 reference (returned for refund)

In order of purchase or acquisition.

Intel Xtreme Graphics 2 64 MB shared DDR - My first personal computer/Laptop, managed to play Far Cry, Half Life 1, and Call of Duty on this PoS.
Mobility Radeon x600 128 MB DDR2 Hypermemory (Laptop) - Gateway MX7515 - First computer I ever had with dedicated graphics. Meant I could finally play BF2, CoD2, and HL2!
Geforce Go 7200 256 MB DDR2 Turbocache (Laptop) - HP dv6000z - Replaced laptop with x600. Had a dual core Turion x2 and 2GB of DDR2, but such a pointless purchase.
EVGA Geforce 8800GTS 320 MB GDDR3 - For my first desktop build. Should've gone with the 640MB
Geforce 9800M GS 512 MB GDDR3 - Asus G52 Gaming Laptop, I needed the mobility. Played just about as well as the desktop 8800GTS 320MB.
Gigabyte Radeon 4670 1 GB DDR3 - 2nd Desktop build interim card until 5850 released.
Diamond Radeon 5850 1 GB GDDR5 - 2nd Desktop's replacement for 4670. Used this thing for 5 years.
Gigabyte Radeon 5570 1 GB DDR3 - Used in a Slim MicroATX build
Geforce 310M 256 MB DDR3 (Laptop) - Sony Vaio CW Series 14". Should've bought the version with the GT 330M. Everything else about it was great. I miss that laptop bad.
Galaxy Geforce GTX 460 1 GB GDDR5 - Replaced 5570 in MicroATX build when it was transferred to a full-width case.
Gigabyte Radeon 7750 1 GB GDDR5 - Bought for wifey's desktop. Still in there, chugging away when needed.
Asus Radeon R9 270 2 GB GDDR5 - Initially replaced the 5850 in my 2nd desktop build, transferred to current desktop (specs in sig).
Intel HD 4200 - In current Lenovo Yoga 13 Lappy. No active cooling, hence massive thermal constraint = poop.

My favorite ones were the Voodoo 3 and the 280. The Voodoo 3 was awesome because all my favorite games at the time were designed for Glide (Descent 3, Freespace 2, UT99, Deus Ex, etc.). The 280 lasted a very long time and still held up reasonably well 5 years later for the games I played, and I got it for half price on release too. The worst one was the SLI setup (even though the individual cards were good), which had microstutter issues everywhere, and I swore off multi-GPU forever after that experience.
