Won't go through the whole list but my most memorable are the single day I owned an ATI Rage Fury MAXX (What do you mean the only driver available is for Win98? Rage indeed.) and the amazing jump from a S3 Virge DX to a Nvidia Riva TNT card.

I know this isn't part of the thread, but just a quick question. Going from 5970 to 7970s did it seem to be less smooth for you at the same FPS.

I kinda felt that way going from 6990 to 7950s.

Yes I immediately had issues from day 1. But its worth noting in the winter before the 7970s were released the 5970 started to struggle and became stuttery itself. I think one of the performance drivers made the stuttering worse. At the time I attributed it to the low VRAM on the 5970 (1GB per chip) and new games needing more but I think I was wrong on that one in hindsight.

PS I have definitely missed an ATI all in wonder card in there somewhere in the early days.

Prehistoric era
C64

Classical era
386 33 MHz
486 50 MHz

Dark ages
Voodoo something <- Think I played Daggerfall on it
GeForce 2 MX <- For Morrowind (think I still have that card somewhere!)

Medieval age
XFX GeForce 7600 <- For Oblivion (died)

Renaissance
Gainward 9800 GT 1 GB
GeForce 325M

Modern age
Sapphire Vapor-X 7950 <- For MWO

Looking back it seems I likely will only upgrade if (a) a card dies or (b) a new TES is released, I am not an OCD like you lot!

I've bought one or two cards of every Radeon generation dating back to Rage Pro.

I've only bought two GeForce 8800s.

I've owned one or two cards of ever GeForce generation dating back to MX series.

I get more free NV swag than their viral marketers

I can't remember the exact models of all mine off the top of my head but I'll try:

ATI 3D Rage 2
Voodoo 3 2000
GeForce FX 5600 (not sure which version)
GeForce 6800 GT
GeForce 7800 GTX
GeForce GTX 260 FTW edition
GeForce GTX 570

GeForce GTX 780 SLI (maybe 780ti) - ordering soon

I do feel like I'm missing a couple, I'm pretty sure I owned another Radeon card at one point, maybe an all-in-wonder or something. And I think I had something between the 7800 and the 260 but I can't remember what. Maybe a 9800 or something, I'd have to look through the computer graveyard at home to see if I still have it. Money was tight for a lot of those years (really only hasn't been the past few) so I upgraded when I could and always tried to get the best bang for my buck and only upgrade when I had to. I was also horrible about selling or trading, I never did either

Well done -- specifically enjoyed the Prehistoric and Renaissance titles!

I am confuddled. Is everybody who posted their purchase history admitting to being a viral marketer?

Everyone on this forum is a viral marketer, every single poster both past and present, including you. You just don't know it yet. :|

Indeed. Would explain more, but I gotta go fix some things with my Craftsman tools. Right after this cup of fresh Folgers coffee.
