Yep, looks like it says 1700MHz for the GDDR3 on the 7900GTX 512. Looks to be the same 1.1ns stuff found on the 7800GTX 512. If those specs are true then it's pretty much what I expected. I didn't really think they'd put 1.2ns GDDR3 on it but who knows. I'll be getting a 7900GTX 512 (or two) since I have an eVGA 7800GT to step up with and sold my 7800GTX 512's a while ago in hopes of this card being a monster. Doesn't look to be the monster card everyone had hoped for but I bet it'll do 700-750MHz/1800MHz on water. Should be pretty even with the X1900XTX except in FEAR. If it's $499 then I'll get 2. Got $1,600 for both of the 7800GTX 512's so $1,000 for 2 7900GTX 512 is a bargain to me.

I hope the 7900 GT is the same core/ram as the 7900 GTX, that would be sweet! G71 SLI for $600 sounds damn nice to me, especially if you can volt mod it and clock it past 7900 GTX speeds.

This can be the sign that these cards will be available in quantites. Plus i think GTX $499 and GT $299 is right after all.

INq also suggests that NV partners will be shipping OCed variants as they do at the speeds of 710~ mhz on the core!! :Q
Looks like the GT with adequate cooling could be a monster OCer.

The sweet thing is, that you could grab 7900GT quad Sli for 12K which is at the same price range of 7800GTX SLi/X1900XTX crossfire.. i think hard core enthusiasts will love this.

Lets just hope the GT isn't a cut down core. Even if it ships with 1.2ns ram and has a rejected GTX core with full pipes enabled, with the right mods it should be a crazy overclocker. I'm rooting for the GT's being like this because even I wouldn't be able to resist getting 2 of them for $600 and then clocking them up.

I agree. I might actually go with 2 7900GT's instead. The memory of course would be the limiting factor(probably 1.4ns) but with a little volt mod I bet the GT will clock pretty good. Oc'ing on the 7900GTX 512's sounds about right if the INQ is right. My 7800GTX 512's would do 620/1810 on air. Put them on water but it didn't make much of a difference since I didn't mess with the volts this time around. The cards would only do 625 to 630MHz with Maze 4 water blocks.(no volt mods)

I can achieve nearly 800 mhz core with my XTX. I figure the GT's being less complex chips should be able to hit 800 mhz with a proper volt mod on water.

Imagine if they have 1.2ns memory....like you said with a decent water cooling setup you might be able to reach 700MHz+/1600MHz+(with some vmods of course) That would be awesome for a $300 card.

Only thing I wish nVidia had done is enable software voltage changes like ATi does. Only hardcore enthusiast willing to solder their cards will be able to volt mod these things so for the average OC'er, they might not get the greatest OC out of these cards.

I'll second that! Used modded bios's before to increase vgpu to 1.5v on the pair of eVGA 7800GTX KO's. Wasn't actually doing 1.5v though. The highest I've seen so far (readings with meter) was 1.46v. Anything past that requires a hard vmod.

if it was

a. DX10
b. HDCP compliant

I might consider picking one up. Until then it's a waste of money no matter how fast it is.

QFT. i agree. only cards that support that will give the ultimate Vista experiance. until then, i will wait.

I feel sorry for those clueless people who still have "Rollo for Video Forum Mod" in their sig. Guess what? It ain't gonna happen.

I'm thinking the exact same thing!

If I can pick up 2 7900 GT's for around £500, I might just go with SLI.
Only problem is with the Asus A8N32 SLI that I have, it might be a bit of a squeeze just to get em all in!

EDIT: Then again, it doesnt matter what the US and Euro prices are, we always get raped in the UK. I wanna know what these cards cost in British pounds, because the X1900 XTX I bought for £380 was a steal.

Those 7900GT's do look pretty sweet. I'd almost get excited about them but I hated having to do hardware voltmods to my 7800GTs to get them to clock decent. I basically had to have them run at just over stock 3D volts for any 2D apps to get the 3D voltage up enough to do anything. It was probably fine since I was using water, but I'm anal that way and I always had in the back of my mind that for 80% of the computing I did I was running the cards at uncomfortable voltage levels. Don't get me wrong, the cards performed well, but I really like how I can load a profile in ATI Tool that will adjust the voltage when I game or bench and then just run 2D volts for all my other computing needs. I don't worry about the card giving out nearly as much as I did with my 7800GTs.

Still, it looks like with the 90nm process the 7900 series should reach some pretty nice clocks.

Exactly, ATi simplified things so much by allowing software voltage changes. It still remains to be seen how well 7800 GT performs and how well it OC's. If it can scale to 700 mhz without a volt mod and has decent rated memory modules on it, it will be a killer buy. If it OC's poorly and has slow memory modules, then it's not even worth getting in SLI vs. an XTX.
