I agree. My X1900XT@750/872 compares very nicely to my 7800GTs@550/1300, so unless the 7900GTs clock higher than that without voltmods, than I don't see them as being any better than an XTX, unless you play Quake4 or Chronicles of Riddick excusively.

How do you guys think 2 x SLI 7900 GT might perform against an OC'd 7900 GTX?

I highly doubt the 7900 GT will OC to 700mhz, more like 550mhz in my opinion, otherwise Nvidia know they would be shooting themselves in the foot by losing so many 7900 GTX sales as a result.

1. All three offers have already been removedfrom the Komputronik website - now it says "archived offer".

2. PLN 3,100 for the 7900 GTX 512 is very expensive, the X1900XTX costs in full retail version around PLN 2,400.

If the prices are confirmed, sorry nVidia, I'm not paying that much for this card.

Well, like I said, thats why I'm waiting to see UK prices first. My guess is the 7900 GTX will be £499 and the GT around £350. Which would still be shite as I only paid £380 for my XTX. Bearing in mind also, that the 7800 GTX 512mb currently sells for around £580-£680!!

Judging from the pictures 7900GT is using 7600GT's heatsink. They went all cheap on the 7900GT that is why the BIG price difference between the GT and GTX.

I haven't seen the Polish price on Kt's website but if Inq's post was correct, then I'm willing to bet that no way in hell can the MSRP be 499 USD. 3100 PLN is a lot of money, way more than the XTX ever was and about the initial price level of the 7800 GTX 512, which, as you all know, was pretty high.

Or better yet They put it up at this extreme price because it almost a week early, they get a couple people to order then say its going to ship in a couple days, then when its in stock ship it out at the $600 dollars when anyone who orders from them that day gets it 100 USD cheaper.

look at the British Pouind exchang rate . . . 499 pounds is over $800USD [of course that inclues ~20% VAT] EDIT: i'm wrong here.

Don't expect anything to be DX10 compliant until MS gets their heads out of their @sses and figures out exactly what they're doing with it. From what I'm hearing, MS keeps changing multiple facets of DX10, making it very difficult for both companies to actually consider code paths (although, driver work can be done to circumvent deficiencies). This is the primary obstacle right now, though.

I was under the impression that nVidia was going to address the HDCP issue in its next cards. Can't find the article I read, but this is clearly a hot issue for them, and something they can easily implement in their G71 launch. We'll see next week...

DX10 is another story.

At $499, the 7900GTX should perform well and give the x1900xt/x a run for it's money in most D3D games while winning OGL titles. Now, if more future games start being shader bound, then the 7900GTX might be in a bit of trouble.

Meh. I only care about my 3d cards for gaming. Game publishers/devs won't be able to lop off the lion's share of their customer base who have NOT upgraded to vista, so we'll be seeing cutting edge games still using dx9 for the next 2-3 years. $300 to game like a modern man for 2 years, with a possible $100 recovery on ebay at the end of that doesn't sound awful to me.

A 7900GT or X1800GTO is looking to be in my future. Just as soon as street drops $50 or so from MSRP.

As far as HDCP, I can pick up an el cheapo card if I need it for blu-ray. Or, if the protection isn't immediately cracked, just get pirated versions. Considering the price tag on blu-ray drives and expected media pricing, I'm unlikely to worry about HDCP for several years.
