Getting 2nd Internet line for Wife's home office

I'm actually surprised that your wife's company has these requirements, even with hipaa regulations. Most companies I know and have worked with are using a VDI solution and issue them a laptop with company provided endpoint protection and the employee then uses that to login to the VDI that sits on the company's network so all traffic can be monitored by them by some IPS on the network edge.

The way your wife's company is handling things is a little...archaic to me. But hey, to each their own, right?

Some companies lack resources, or might outsource IT altogether.

You guys are cool. I was just looking up ATT Uverse (fiber) last week.

They want the cisco vpn device to get the public IP. It won't work on NAT, or they're not willing to put it behind a home users NAT setup (cause HIPPA).

One workaround I thought of that may work for you is to see if your current ISP will give you a package of 5 static IP's. With this, you can attach a new router exclusively for your wife's computer and avoid having to pay for another separate connection. For me, five static IP's is cheaper than another separate account and your wife's router would get it's own public IP address. Granted, with two connections, you get more speed but still. Just another option for you to consider.
