for about the same price, get the corsair valueselects dual channel package. $40 for a case and psu is going to come with a cheap psu. the psu is the last thing you want to go cheap on. search around why you need to quality psu. the minimum i'd recomend is an antec 350watt or equivilant. if you can't justify spending the extra money on a better case/psu, then downgrade the cpu to a 3000+, and use the extra money saved on a better case/psu.

How about this:

CPU...............AMD ATHLON 64 3200+ 2.0G S939 RETAIL...............189.99
Mother Board......ASUS A8N5X S939 DUAL CORE NF4 HT1000...............119.00
RAM...............512M PC3200/400 BUFFALO M&S OEM (x2)................39.99
Hard Drive........SATA WD 250G 7200RPM 8M WD2500JD OEM...............119.99
Video Card........ATI RX800GT 256MB PCI-E............................199.00
Case/PSU..........ANTEC SOLUTION SLK1650B 350W TOWER..................79.00

Upon doing some searching on Antec's site, the case does indeed come with an Antec PSU.

Made a small revision (skimped on the HD a bit):

CPU...............AMD ATHLON 64 3200+ 2.0G S939 RETAIL...............189.99
Mother Board......ASUS A8N5X S939 DUAL CORE NF4 HT1000...............119.00
RAM...............512M PC3200/400 BUFFALO M&S OEM (x2)................39.99
Hard Drive........SATA WD 120G 7200RPM 8M WD1200JD OEM................99.99
Video Card........ATI RX800GT 256MB PCI-E............................199.00
Case/PSU..........ANTEC SOLUTION SLK1650B 350W TOWER..................79.00

Anyways, do you guys think that this machine can play today's games (e.g. Battlefield 2, Call of Duty 2, etc...) reasonably well? By reasonably well, I mean that I do not want to play games at superhigh quality with superhigh framerates and at a super high resolution.

Here's what Inlinefour was suggesting:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145440

Not only would it be cheaper, it's a trusted name brand and no computer should be run without rep-staked reliable ram.
I'm not too keen on ATI these days so I wouldn't know exactly where a X800GT would fall under compared to other cards. Seeing how it is $200, wouldn't a 6800GS be better for around the same price?

I find it funny you list BF2 and CoD2 as that's what I ran on a system quite similar to yours and it was absolutely playable on medium settings. You can check my BF2 stats to confirm that Basic rundown is 3700+ SD, ASUS A8V Deluxe, BFG 6600GT, hitatchi 80gb sata hdd($50), and that pack of corsair ram that link had.

what's your budget?

the 6800GS is MUCH better than the x800gt. check out anandtech's review of the 6800gs. about the asus mobo, i think the epox mobo would be better
