Tires were definetly the worst to lift though - 36" mud boggers aren't easy for a (at that time) skinny 140lb kid to throw around

8 xboxes and a bunch of ps2s arent exactly light. tires are a bitch, i will give you that. i have a hard enough time moving my spare around

You should have "accidently" dropped it off the side of the trailer and thrown an XBox or two over the fence

it was all one box, kinda hard to open one up 20 minutes before the pre-load starts without anyone looking at you funny. and besides that fact i'm not a console gamer.

By the way do you know the hub you would be working at? I'm not sure where you are in Kentucky, or how many hubs and centers there are there, but from what I have heard Kentucky has the largest UPS facility.
Well, I'm not very close to that facility, which I'm almost certain is the Louisville facility.
Anyhow, xaigi
Whatever you do, dont forget to obey the codes stamped on the boxes. For instance, "Fragile" means "Drop repeatedly" and "Perishable" translates to "Keep in warehouse for 2 weeks."
I thought I was going to DIE laughing when I read that!

RagingBITCH what's a case box?

PsychoAndy your sig almost woke my wife up when I read it...

Case box = computer case box, sorry I wasn't more specific. A suprising number of computers seem to go from Dallas to Norman, OK. (The truck I always worked)

With the exception of computer monitors and case boxes
Out of curiousity, how many computers/monitors would you process in an average day?

Also, all this talk about busting packages. You do realize that with the shipping terms and conditions it is a true hassle and sometimes impossible to claim insurance on these packages. I shipped a pair of Klipsch speakers 40 miles through UPS and they denied the insurance claim because there wasn't a packing list INSIDE the box. I mean come on, it was a person to person sale and was in the Klipsch retail packaging (the same they use to ship them across the country) and it was still denied.

Damn I went to UPSJobs.com, everything was going great until I found the hours:

Sunrise Pre-load 3:00 AM-9:00 AM
Day 9:00 AM-3:00 PM
Twilight 3:00 PM-9:00 PM
Night 9:00 PM-3:00 AM

I want $10/hour and to work 4 hours a day (with 2 paid 15 minute breaks) from 6-10PM for my services

Why I spend the extra small amount for FedEx:

On-time delivery
No damaged packages

Why I will never use UPS again:

Late delivery
Damaged packages (80% of the stuff i've got from them)
Insane border fees (fedex is much cheaper)

I loved the UPS job..sit there, throw some boxes around w/ no one b1tchin at you...I got in really good shape. there were times I'd mow lawns for 6 hours, go throw boxes for 4 hours, then go and lift weights for an hour and a half. I was never in better shape in my life. One of the only times I got rid of the layer of fat over my bottom abs. That and throwing boxes from the top of trucks onto conveyor belts is kinda fun. I remember we had directv boxes and I stopped the warehouse becuase I overloaded the people loading packages onto trucks. The warehouse was stopped for 35 minutes and everyone got to go watch the avs game. I remember seeing how many directv boxes I could load on the belt at once, and at one point I had 27 on there at once. Again, they had to stop my belt and the guys loadin the trucks came over and b1tched cuase they couldnt' keep up. One of the better jobs I've had. Good hours, good work, nice people. I met tons of people from all walks of life. I also built some hella endurance in my biceps too.

Oh yeah, and for people that say you'll be too tired...its not that bad. I was never too tired to go out after work until 2-3am in the morning. I always had enough in me to lift after work.

Bad things:
you get these stains on your shirts from boxes. For some reason my fingers would be a little numb the first couple weeks I worked there, then I got used to it. Like, on the weekends when I was off my fingers would be a little stiff...can't really explain it..just weird. This feeling didnt' really go away until I took a week off for a vacation. Not enough hours...I worked like 4 hours a night if I was lucky. I think we finished way too fast.

Oh yeah...I knew a guy who was a supervisor there who made 90k a year running his own business. He was promoted to supervisor in 2 monthes. The only reason why he worked at UPS was to get benefits and to get a workout(he was one of the fastest unloaders I've ever seen). I think there was a united way thing and he donated his whole UPS paycheck to charity.

It's hilarious
