Basicalllllly, computer BSOD'd, and I threw, what at the time, was everything I could at the problem to fix a problem that was created. And during the recovery process, the Acer recovery system failed, hdd ended up formatted, and now I've got no way to reinstall Windows. (see detail on problem if desired)
Bottom line is that I'm really worried that when I get a response from Acer they're going to tell me that since the recovery disks I made using their software didn't work, it's not their problem and that they don't supply recovery disks or any type of media backups. (this is what I've heard, I may be wrong) All I need here is a set of recovery disks for my laptop. Somewhat similar issue with my old laptop; I reformatted, scrapped windows, ran ubunutu for awhile, once I got my new laptop I reformatted again, used the manufacturers recovery disks to restore it to original factory settings/software (including windows) then gave it to my father. I just want to do the same thing here with my current laptop.
So what I'm wondering is, what am I going to have to do if Acer tells me tough luck, and that they won't supply any kind of recovery media. I HAVE a legit MCE key, obviously, the one that came with the laptop that is glued right to the bottom. What exactly do I need to make use of it? I know very little about licensing/OEM licensing. I see that OEM copies of MCE are online for like 110 bucks? All I really need is the simple MCE media without any sort of key as I already have the key from the license that came with the laptop, is there any way I can legally get just the media cheap? I don't wanna have to drop a hundred bucks just because Acer doesn't give a damn and my laptop happened to bug out on me.
Thanks for any future responses!
