Alright guys, so basically from all the research I have found this to be a really good one and recommended by a lot of people I know..What do you guys think? Is it good for the price and what comes with it spec wise?

I will use this mainly for gaming, video editing, graphics designing and everything else you use a computer for. I was thinking about getting an LCD but they are way too expensive especially the 19inch ones that I want.

I have one myself and I love it. Text get a little small @ 1600x1200, but at 1280x1024 an below it is awesome.

I had one of these before I got my 19" LCD. I found the text to be a little blurry at anything above 1152x864, but I'm kinda sensitive about those things. Other than that, it was a very good monitor.

Speaking of being sensitive..1280x1024 is not a standard 4:3 res...running a CRT at this resolution will distort the image slightly. 1280x960 is the res with the proper ratio. LCDs run at 1280x1024 because they are designed for it.

I have one of these monitors as well, and like other people have said, it isnt ideal for text clarity at high resolutions. That said, it has excellent color reproduction, and is truly a joy for games and movies.

Speaking of being even more sensitive, the difference between 1280x1024 and 1280x960 is 6.6%. (1024/960 = 1.066).

Now, do you see those little buttons/dials at the bottom of the monitor? Do you see how you can stretch the screen horizontally and vertically? Do you notice that you can adjust it by more than 6%? I just measured my monitor, I can stretch it horizontally by 38% and vertically by 53%.

So I have a few questions for you
1) How in the world do you know your monitor is exactly stretched to be 4:3?
2) What is wrong with going 1280x1024 to fit many programs nicely into the picture and then stretching by hand to exactly match the correct setting without distortion?

I couldnt help but jump in...
I don't think LCD's have adjustments like CRT's do, dullard. At least the one's i've used.

Like you used math above, you take 1280 and divide that by 4, this number, you take and x by 3 and it gives you the 3 part of the aspect ratio (960).

"2) What is wrong with going 1280x1024 to fit many programs nicely into the picture and then stretching by hand to exactly match the correct setting without distortion?"

It all depends on your taste...

Correct, but this whole thread is about CRTs. LCDs don't have them, but that is not relavant to this thread.

I think you misunderstood my point. Many people here come in bragging that they are using 1280x960 and thus are using the undistorted picture and that the rest of us who use 1280x1024 are commiting some horrible offense. I disagree. If you have a 4:3 CRT and you use 1280x960 the chance is that you ALSO have a distorted image. Have any of these people actually gotten out calipers to measure their screen image and adjusted the height and width to exactly match 4:3? I doubt it. Most people just stretch their screen to fit as much as possible without the plastic blocking part of their view. This stretching can easilly take you far from 4:3. How do these people know that they are truely at 4:3? They don't and they probably aren't. In fact, their error due to stretching may be larger than the error by using 1280x1024 and thus they may have a greater distortion than the people they chastise here.
