Getting a new Duron... what all do I need to do to setup?

here's what my setup will be:

Win2K
Asus A7V133
Duron 800
MSI Geforce2 GTS
SB Live! Value
Netgear FA310TX 10/100
Philips 4/4/32 CDRW
Mitsumi 40x

Are there any patches I need to apply either before or after I put my new hardware in? I'm not planning on doing a format after the new hardware installation (Win2K seems to handle new hardware just fine), but I don't want to goof anything up either.

Thanks!

The via drivers after you get it all put together. I still recomend a clean install if it does ack qwerky in any sort of way. Also, make sure you install the heatsink properly.

Why Duron when for just a few $ more you could go with the Athlon T'bird? Processors in that speed range are really cheap now even up to a gig or so.

#1 it's already on the UPS truck to my apartment.
#2 I figured the $50 extra for an Athlon could better be used on rent, or my truck payment.

All I'm upgrading are the cpu and motherboard. I already had the other components of the system (run by a C300A@450 right now) and just want a cheaper upgrade for gaming.

If you are planning on overclocking, don't use the A7V. Go with Abit or MSi. If not..then i say, thats a pretty good choice.

When you install the new mobo, you might want to get an flash upgrade for the bios.

What's wrong with the A7V133 for overclocking? It'll do 1MHz increments on the FSB, is controlled in the BIOS like the Abit, and from what I've read has great stability and plenty of room for a huge HSF unit.

What's not to like?

Yeah.. I'de say you're fine with the anus board.. nice board.. I got the older A7V and I love it..

when you're done putting it together, the first thing you install is the 4 in 1's.. then your vid card.. then everything else.. you should be okay..
here's a link to help you incase.. they're PDF's from AMD's site.. they're grate! They mostly deal with Athlons, but Durons are covered too.. it's just a bunch of info.. like heatsink installation, rig setup and stuff.. straight from the source..
