A few things here:
1. Go by the Acer website for system specs.
1a. Now manufacturers will make different submodels for etailers/retailers, so you may want to verify with the website before you order.
2. There are a lot of games this computer won't play because it does not come with Windows. You would need to purchase that separately to play Windows games.
3. This computer would not run GTA IV with the Integrated video on a Pentium.

That is a bay trail (atom) celeron. Even with a discrete card added, it would perform badly in any demanding game. It might be adequate for very basic use like web surfing and watching videos, but it is not a gaming computer.

Edit: don't be misled by the fact it is a "quad core". Those four cores are only 2 ghz and have low performance per clock relative to the big core haswell architecture. Even the lowliest dual core haswell will be much faster.

The Celeron is lower on the food chain than the Pentium. Celerons aren't bad chips, but they aren't intended for any sort of high demand computing like gaming.

...it comes with W8... according to the specs.

I agree... that computer is not intended to play any games bigger than Solitaire.

Considering you said this:

I'm not sure why you are rolling your eyes at people who are helping you assess the computer's readiness for gaming.

The acer site does not. So if he/she trusts the etailer, that will be fine.

Yes, I see that now... But the etailer shows it in the photo... maybe it's a 'serving suggestion.'

Meh... but it sounds like the OP has a budget restraint, I'd hate to see him waste his money on a low-budget rig that won't deliver. There is 'compromise' and then there is 'sacrifice,' and why would you spend money on a new PC if it treads the water you are already in?

mrtechguy, I noticed you are posting links for sites in the US and the UK. If you tell us what country you are in, and what your budget is, we could be a better help to you.

General Hardware is also a good subforum for this sort of thing.

only got £300 - £400

Does that include monitor /peripherals?

I was able to put something together right under the 300 mark, including Windows 7. The 5400K has the Radeon HD 7540D, so it should be able to do some light gaming for now, and you can put in something better later. There are two RAM slots, so you can easily add another 4 GB when you are ready.

So, what additional info are you looking for? Did the setup in my previous post help, or are you against building?
