Getting a TV with no VGA/DVI input, but does have HDMI x2

Hello all, it's been a while for me even browsing these boards again. Glad the same good advice is still being given out!

I'm getting a new TV, but the problem is there is no VGA or DVI input on the thing. Only 2 HDMI inputs (and other basics).

I looked a bit on newegg figuring quite a few cards would have come out by now with HDMI outputs but the choices are very few (less than 5 it seems).

There are actually quite a few HDCP compliant cards (most new ones) but the problem is I need them somehow running through an HDMI cable.

What am I missing? Is there another way to run DVI from the back of the vid card into an HDMI input (I've seen converters that are overpriced)? Or am I limited to the current minute selection should I build a media center PC for my TV?

Budget?

R600 is supposed to have HDMI output. I havent seen any pictures of it actually having HDMI, but they'll show up.

DVI -> HDMI converters are your best bet IMO.

You can do DVI to HDMI with a $5 cable.
Well wait a week or 2 and buy a HD 2400 which have the new much advance AVIVO 2 , HDMI and also a dedicated Video processor for 100% offload of 1080p H.264 , VLC , Mepg 4 decoding.

a dvi -> hdmi cable is like $5 at monoprice.com, i've used it with my tv that only has hdmi and it works great.

DVI Single Link and HDMI are the same thing, except HDMI has audio. Because of this, TV's almost never actually have a real DVI port since who wants picture with no sound. They just simply require you to pick up a cheap DVI to HDMI cable (www.monoprice.com is agood place to find one as mentioned already) to get a good signal from your computer. Do not buy into monster/best buy cable prices.

Buying a True HDMI video card really inst the best solution at the moment, because no one is kicking out the good ones yet which can get the sound out easily from the audio source of your choice. The best HDMI solutions I have seen at the moment appear to be some Radeon Xpress 1250 motherboards with HDMI out using their integrated HD audio. This obviously cripples you in the video department for gaming, but is perfectly acceptable for HDTV viewing/playback.

Sweet, with the existence of that cable I wont have any reservations about the TV. For some reason I could only find a silly converter box that was like $300, I guess I didn't look hard enough.

Now I know where to find the $5 cables. Thanks!
