Getting a Wii U, maybe

I basically want a gaming system that will also act as a streaming player as well. Something that will stream Netflix and Amazon. The WiiU, if it can stream Netflix and Amazon in HD, seems more attractive than the others due to its games and price, but the games are slightly more important. I want a device that can do more than one thing and that's why I haven't bought a Roku or anything of that sort. In the meantime, my PC can stream shows.

It does both of those just fine. Plus, with the gamepad, it makes it much easier to find something cause you have a on screen keyboard you can use for typing. XRay on Amazon instant videos is pretty interesting too.

I feel the same thing every time I start up Ni no Kuni and get lost in the theme music on the PS3 launch screen. Its been too long since a game has been so magical and enchanting. Its really the first and only modern game to make me feel exactly how SNES did.

I loved that game and had the same feelings. Those are the sorts of games I am interested in.

It's never going to be $199 with a game. It's easily worth the asking price. Get one now with Mario 3D World. You seriously won't regret it. That game brought so much needed life back into the Wii U. Wii U is going to do great in 2014. So glad I have one man.... so glad. 3d World = epically good.

Wii U has a ton of great games right now. Its library blows the PS4 and Xbox One's away. Heck the very best games on those consoles right now (AC4 and CoD Ghosts) are on Wii U too.

And the wiiu version of those games suck by comparison. When are you going to understand that for a some people these days Mario won't cut it. The game has been done before and not everyone cares about it. I myself want more substance in a game these days. Much more than platforming. Gamers have grown up, at least any of the ones who can remember Mario back on nes and SNES. Not all of them are happy with how Nintendo is doing things. Myself included. This is reflected in the sales of the system.

No rumble? Jeebus.

The worse graphics doesn't really matter to me, and the controller is subjective (including the screen - why do you need a screen even for those games? Does it therefor suck on the other consoles? Makes no sense).

The multiplayer is a big factor. I can see that being a big deciding point.

If graphics matter to you pick up a Xbone or go PC. The Wii U is an amazing console for the 1st party games. To me it has been the best console since the PS2. The controller is great. I don't know why everyone gets so butt hurt for a different design. I play blops 2 and find it easy to use.

Online is not very good. So if you want that experience don't even think about getting a Wii.

Lol @ anyone who buys a COD/AC/multiplatform game on Wii U.

My criteria for Wii U games: is it exclusive, and if not, does it have exclusive features unique to the Wii U?

Rayman Legends for example, to me, is a Wii U game.

I picked that up for x360 on BF. Once I tried the demo for Legends I bought Origins because it was a lot cheaper. Awesome series.

600 = platinum member, meaning you will get a special gift next year such as a pin badge collection or figurine. You don't have to keep your 600 coins to get the platinum reward; you can spend them freely.

The actual rewards you can buy with the coins change with time. The add some and drop some everyonce in a while. They have digital games that rotate every month or so, as well as physical rewards that rotate out with no set schedule.

I got a pikmin tote for around 300. They had a link between worlds post set for 500, but it is sold out.

Was there an anticipated announcment for last weekend (eg new Zelda) that didnt happen as expected? Thought I saw some "disappoint" on a news site.

I think I am over the hyper realism games. I am burning out on BF4 on my PC (sig rig), despite amazing graphics, etc. I want something intentionally unrealistic and fun.

NBA Jam anybody? God I miss playing vs my brother on the SNES. That game was a riot and caused more fistfights in my house than madden ever did. I don't suppose they'd even consider remaking it. That's the thing though - it was absurd & cartoony, but ridiculously fun.

Mario 3D World, Mario Kart 8 & Super Smash Bros (2014 Q1), X from Monolith (2014 ?), Xenoblade Chronicles (Wii game), Wind Waker HD, Rayman Legends, and Super Mario Bros U. Those are some titles that will be a huge breath of fresh air when you're burnt out on "serious" games.

Mario 3D World is amazing, I just have 2 problems with it.

When characters get too far apart, they put a border around the screen to indicate it. It's too big and make it harder to see especially since you are on the edge as it is.

When someone dies or picks up a power-up, the game briefly pauses. I think that's been in all Mario games but still it totally kills your timing which later on gets pretty important!

PS4 and XB1 both have apps that offer second screen experience through tablet and phones. On AC4 you can view the map and set waypoints without pausing the game. It makes it much more enjoyable since most of your game is navigating on the water. Rumble functionality can be used in many ways to alert the player. It's become something of a standard to have.
