not sure which part of the states you guys live in, I definately don't see that here in cal. Anyways the primary driver of this car is going to be my wife, and she thinks it's cool to be a rarely female STi driver, but actually we haven't test drive the car yet. If she think the ride is too punishing then I'll have to give up owning a STi

I get slightly better gas mileage than stock in my WRX with EcuTek stage 3.

It's odd that you often read these claims about the 350Z's prowess over the STi on random internet message boards but it's never backed up by track timeslips or reviews in car magazines...

Oh, and tell your fsckin' asshat friend to save that bullsh!t for the track.
I said highway. What part of that do you not understand? I guess you don't know much about cars and think 1/4 is how you judge a race on the highway.

He loves his 350z more than he loved his STI.

& the person he was racing was my other friend who had the time had a stock 350z convertible but now has a turbo and some other mods putting 500HP to the wheels.
I understood perfectly. The only time a 350Z is going to have a chance of "spanking" an STi (stock for stock or mod for mod) is at speeds in excess of 100mph (where the STi's AWD will begin to work against it). Did you miss the part where I said to tell your friend to save that kind of bullsh!t for the track? What part of that did you not understand? I enjoy spirited driving as much as the next driver, but I hate that pussy Fast-and-Furious crap. I hope your friend loses his license before he kills someone. I wouldn't mind if he killed himself but for some unfortunate reason street racers never do end up killing only themselves.

That's gonna be a tough sell cuz the ride is pretty harsh. So far, nothing but complaints about the ride from all the women that I have driven in the car. =\

A used S4 is nice, but maintainance can be very costly. I've looked at some used A4 3.0 but I'm concerned about maintainance cost as well.

I know the ride in STi is harsh, just hope it's acceptable. Even if we get it, I don't think we are going to keep it long. Maybe sell it in a yr or two and hopefully without losing too much.

Man just too much options in the 30k range. For the price of a used STi i can get a new Forester XT Limited as well which is much more practical, and a monster for 0-50/60 dash. Then there's the more upscale A3... decision decision!!

If ride quality is your concern, I would recommend a regular WRX, Forester XT, or Legacy GT. The LGT is a great ride with only a little sacrifice in performance.

Or no performance hit if we're talking straight line only

My wife does not approve the styling of the LGT coz it's too boring. The Forester XT is ok coz it's a SUV with hoodscoop.

Apparently both of you guy's interpretations of "the track" are different. One sees the 1/4 mile track drag and the other sees longer runs, say oval or road track. oh, btw, in handling terms, the STi owns the 350z hands down.

Let me know if you're still interested in a test ride sometime.

/rant on
Someone left me a late Christmas present in a parking lot today. A nice 3" long gash on my rear bumper. Scraped the paint right off so now there's a nice black line on a white car. Fvckin people who can't park. :|

yeah actually that'll be great coz i'm looking to buy it, but to test drive it i have to drive at least 40 min. Maybe I should at least test ride it for a decision.

I know how that feels. A while back I parked at Cosco, and when I came back there was a big long scratch at the rear right bumper of my steel grey 6s. Now it leaves a big white line and I haven't gotten it painted yet.

LOL. I find that funny but then again the LGT appealed to me because it looks relatively "normal" to most people yet has major balls.

Then again, I like the looks of it a lot.

LOL. and she doesn't like cute cars like the beetle or mini either. she likes flashy cars. she doesn't like the Evo coz it looks too much like a regular lancer. Anyway if i'm to get a LGT I'd get the FXT coz it's as quick and more practical especially for ski trip.

I find it funny that you're asking for a "mature" forum about car modding.

Blah blah blah, why do you people even bother responding to Aimsters posts. Everyone knows he's a child who lies to make himself look better on the internet.

I agree with Nutbucket. Go for the 2005(some still on dealer lots heavily discounted) or 2006 LegacyGT. It's cheaper new over the used STI, has less aggressive styling(I don't know how your wife would prefer the riceboy(sorry riceboys!(I like parenthesis)) styling of the STI over the GT), is a smoother ride, and has good power. Also, for $650 you can get the COBB Accessport which alone will boost the power to around 290 to 300 HP, And stage 2 isn't much more expensive. It's probably cheaper to insure also.

Edit: Also the wagon version has nearly identical performance characteristics, and should be roomy enough for your ski equipment. Also I like the sport wagon look anyway.

Actually the '06 has one BIG advantage in that its 5-star rated for side impact. '05 is not. Other than that the differences are some color combinations.

I've got a Cobb AP on mine...currently Stage1 and it's pretty fun to drive.

I didn't know the frame was changed from MY05 to MY06. I haven't read too much on the newer models after I bought my 05.

excuse me did i ever ask for car modding? I'm just asking for a auto forum for the STi. I visit a Mazda6 forum for my car and I learn a lot from them, especially lots DIY maintainance that save me lots money, and opinion and things to watch for in the car. The one reason I consider the STi is that it's so powerful and tricked I don't need to mod it.

Well I've always love watching rally racings that's why i develop a taste for the STi. I think "rice-up" Civics and Integras are butt ugly but I like the STi styling coz it look almost exactly like the WRC rally car. oh and blue only. Actually we test drove a 05 LGT at a Car&Driver and Subaru sponsored event against 325 and S60, not bad but not too impressed either.

Yea, gotcha. All of the subaru forums are basically the same. Full of lots of morons as well as very knowledgeable people who will help you along the way.
Scoobymods.com has a lot of faqs, nasioc is the defacto standard, i-club.com has good info but lots of kiddies. From thoes three forums you should be able to link to the entire subaru internet community.

Thing about the STi and WRX is that for a few hundred dollars and a couple hours of your time you can modify the car to go like it was intended to. Leaving a STi or WRX without an uppipe/downpipe is just SIN I tell you!

wow no i don't wanna commit SIN. Well I indeed get a STi and we love it so much that we'll keep it for a long time then I'll consider the mod. If I'm selling it in a yr or 2 then i'll leave it stock.

yeah the forums are full of kiddies, just have to dig harder for the useful threads.
