Getting money in Korea

I'm going to be in S. Korea in a few hours, and when I get there I'm going to need to withdraw about $1000 worth of Won, or USD would work also. It would have been better to carry traveller's checks or cash with me from the US, but that didn't work out. I bank with Chase. What is the best way to get cash from a foreign bank in Korea?

all you need is a credit card and an ATM

if you have a PIN for the CC, that works, otherwise your ATM/debit card will get you cash out of ATM's

just use your credit card when possible, only get "cash"/use cash for something that doesn't accept the CC

travelers checks are 20th century, the whole world uses cards/electronic transactions now

Citibank operates in Korea, use their ATM.

Just go to any big bank and use your card to get cash from the ATM. Also, if you have an AMEX card, AMEX doesn't charge any fees for international usage. Not many places accept AMEX though.

I don't know if I can get $1000 at a time from an ATM. Can I? It's kind of important, it's my room and board fee for the semester.
