As of right now and for the past however many years that they have been developing, they have never caused me any pain; so yeah for me.
My dentist has been saying for years that I need to get them taken out beause they will cause damage to other molars, undo what 3K of braces did, and so on.

I have one that is completely in and straight, two that are partially in and straight and one that is not at all in and angled a bit.

But because I am moving to JAX at the end of April, I need to do this and deal with any complications whilst I still have teh insurance.

He asks me what my pain threshhold is and I reply none. I am now being put out all together, I get the antibiotics and he is still trying to decide what pain killersI am going to need. I am not all looking forward to this.

Any words of advice?

Edit: McD's was just trucked in and I normally dont like it, but I cant eat or drink anything which started at 6:00 am and fries smell really good.

I stayed awake while 3 were taken out...no issues whatsoever. Took the antibiotics afterwards and no problem aside from scrapping food stuff out of the gaps.

I was knocked out completely for mine. The drugs were so good, I woke up in another room, and asked how I'd gotten there. They told me I'd walked there on my own power and collapsed again. No memory of it whatsoever

Make sure you don't need to do anything important for the next day or two. I did it right before a weekend, and wasn't coherent at all on Saturday.

Enjoy. I'll be talking to my dentist at the end of the month to schedule mine... so sick of biting the side of my mouth with 2 mis-aligned wisdom teeth.

i need to get all 4 of mine out too. i need a crown done on a molar like last year and the dentist's been waiting for me to get the wisdom teeth out first. i just need to get it done. 2 first, then do the crown, then 2 on the other side at some point (hopefully within 10 years)

Never had a problem with my wisdom teeth removal really. Didn't even need anything more than local anesthetic.

Anyway... It's really not that bad. Just lay off anything hard'n'crunchy for a while (which was a problem for me, tortilla chips within a week). Rinse with salt water (ick), and you'll be fine. I got a fairly substantial infection after about a week because I was "too eager" to eat again. I had it taken care of by the time I got in to see the doctor (2 days), but let me tell you, draining blood and puss from your gums/mouth is just plain disgusting.

And I highly suggest trying to do something coherent such as write immediately after coming out of sedation. What a trip that was when I found the paper I was writing on a month later!

He isn't... it's his signature. (Odd?)

He's drugged now. Let's see what kind of reply we get to the thread, and when

I got knocked out for mine too, had all 4 taken out. The first 6 hours were the second worst experience of my life, but after that it wasn't bad at all.

I think I liked it even more because I really like mashed taters and that's what I ate for the first three days. Just stay on top of any antibiotics they give you, because I think my oral surgeon messed up. About 5-6 weeks after the extraction, my right upper side got all puffy, then bled and pussed for an hour and a half randomly one day, and the other side has this bone chip that hurt for a while and now I think my body just got used to.

Oh, and saltwater rinsing is key.
