its beginning to be not so much a value proposition when u have to sink hours into trouble shooting driver installs
all these cart before the horse features i dont even use
i just wanna goddamn driver that displays 1080 w/o some ritualistic driver wiping uninstall/install blah

I agree, zero issues with Omega drivers thus far. Running a 3 year old 7950.
I used to experience the standby bug several versions ago. But since Omega, smooth sailing :awe:

The hang at Windows logon is almost always due to outdated motherboard bios. Try updating it. As a simple test, see if it will boot into safe mode. If so, it's the BIOS, conflicting with the video driver.

For the record, omega caused intermittent flickering on my r9 290. Reverted to previous WHQL driver and it's gone.

I updated my HD6450 with one of the AMD drivers and it completely crashed my system. I had to recover the OS from a backup...

I don't think I've ever had problems with my NV drivers...

And yet I've been pretty much issue free with 7970's, 290x's and 295x2. Could be something up with your rig

My current cards are older but never had any issues with a 5870 and 6970. I update typically a month after release.

Same here. No issues with my 270 CF. Standby works as intended. You can always turn off that feature by disabling monitor sleep and using system standby instead. Problem solved. Hell, Nvidia doesnt even have this feature in any implementation state. When it's working it beats any Nvidia GPU in performance per watt in this off state, by an order of magnitude! Nvidia has been lacking this important feature since 2012! And that major con still exists in their 2nd revision Maxwell arch. The more GPUs in your rig, the bigger power savings become! Maybe Pascal will have it.

Speaking of drivers, right now I am having more issues with my Kepler GPU. First, Adaptive Vsync doesnt seem to work in FC4, and DSR isnt working thru CP, unless I use Geforce Experience app.

Bad drivers, lmao. Don't make AMD evil, and a saint of Nvidia. This is just not true.

I got 290s in Crossfire. I didn't upgrade to Crossfire until late last year, because I knew that AMD had issues with frame pacing in particular in 2012/2013 in multi-GPU setups. They started to fix that in 2014 and even before Omega came out, I had no issues once I got my second 290 and post-Omega I have seen FPS improvements across the board.

I haven't had any issues with the Omega driver, and I didn't even clean install it. I think you should try clean installing it again though.

OP, what kind of hardware are you running the card on? Let's see if we can figure something out rather than just a bunch of folks telling you they have no problems.

Well, I have heard that the 7870 XT has problems.

Had the same problem with a new 270X. I spent the better part of a day trying to figure it out, even reinstalled Windows a few times, nothing worked and it always black-screened after the Windows logo (if it even made it that far). Solution was to replace it with a 750ti sourced locally (customer build, he didn't care). Complete waste of time.

Edit: mobo BIOS was flashed to the latest version. I could boot up fine with just integrated and I tried with a spare gpu (a 7600GT? I think) and that worked as well

I had an issue with a 7850 where after a driver update the screen would go black after the windows logo.

Reproducible by installing an R9 270 in the system with latest drivers. Everything works. Then install the 7850, black screen after logo. This was back on the Cat 12.12's IIRC.

With black screen under these circumstances.

Safe Mode Resolved.

Windows Reinstall with latest drivers for 7850 resolved.

The issue occurred when I put the 7850 in after having used an R9 270 in the same system. You may want to roll back to pre driver that caused the issue, wipe AMD directories and registry, and then use AMD driver page to pull latest driver.

I have had no issues with AMD drivers at all in a long, long time and I am currently running R9 290 and a 7850. But I can understand the frustration though. Funny enough, I actually had a sleep bug with my 660ti in my HTPC and had to switch out to my 7850 in order to fix it.

Can't say I've had the OP's issues but I do still get an occasional issue where my monitors will not wake from sleep on my 7970.

the only problem I have with AMD driver is that they interfere with MSI Afterburner.

I've never had any issue with AMD drivers except back in 13.11 I think when it would blackscreen when coming out of sleep.

If the OP already has the latest motherboard BIOS, this is definitely the next step to take. Nice suggestion.

I had a similar problem with a black screen on boot after installing an HD6450. I didn't install the driver first and reboot. I just installed it as the drivers were already installed from a while back. Never gave me problems before with swapping back and forth between a GTX660 and the 6450. What resolved it for me was using DDU and removing the drivers I had installed.
