Don't use family. Talk to the insurance company and get them to set her up with an attorney. If the facts are correct, I would wager this won't even go to trial.

If the well-muttoned woman was running a red light to enter the intersection to hit your girlfriend, was she running the red light also? Or was the large-boned woman ticketed for turning left into traffic?

Actually, I think according to CA law, because fault was assigned only to one side (assuming in this case the fat woman), she can legally sue and get money. Something similar happened to a friend of mine who's car got totaled (not her fault at all), but she was scared that if 100% fault was put on the other driver, she would get sued.

Do what you want to do, not sure why you even posted then. I'm just saying it is a HORRIBLE idea to ever mix family with business, law, or medicine.

Hmm. It's not that farfetched. Think of people who have been acquitted of murder, yet still get reamed with civil penalties for wrongful death. I don't understand why the 100% fault would play into it though.
