Thank you very much.

I was just about to give up on finding a card like this, and just get a normal geforce 2 MX card. I wasen't able to find any DVI to VGA converters, and it was just too hard to find what I wanted.

The Gainward CARDEXpert GF2MX TwinView GS is really a wonderful card- especially with the 5.5ns ram- it really kicks! I love how it has two VGA-outs!

I'll try to post if I find where these are sold.

Thanks a ton again.

(BTW: If anyone hasen't read the review about the Gainward card, do so! It is a great review!)

You should be able to find the Gainward GF2MX GS at KDComputers. That's where I got mine from. They are very helpful and don't overcharge on shipping.

Loner, I was only able to find this card at the link you gave:
"GeForce 2 MX 32M 5.5ns Memory Dual head w/tv out Active Cooling - 139.00 "

I know it says Dual Head- but is that dual Monitors or Monitor and TV ?

Do you think you could give us more info on the card you bought, and what came with the card that you bought? (Did you buy a dual-VGA card? )

thanks.

That is indeed the card I purchased, and it is indeed the Gainward CardExpert Geforce2 MX Twinview Golden Sample. It is a dual VGA card, and also has TV-OUT. It has 5.5NS memory chips (different brand chips than the review, but still 5.5NS).

I haven't installed it yet, as my new motherboard is still in the mail (MSI K7T Pro2-A).

el cumpo.

I saw the Inno card- it looks cool, but it has an external slot for the xtra VGA slot. Not that good for me,,

Question, can that card, the Gainward CardExpert Geforce2 MX Twinview Golden Sample (damn long name), run 2 monitors at seperate resolutions? I wasn't aware that they made a dual VGA MX! I really wanted a GeforceMX but my choice to go with the G450 was simply because of the drivers and the DH VGA right out of the box.

I'm running a 17" and a 14" so one resolution will be 1152x768 and the other is 800x600. Thanks

UPDATE on where to buy these cards...
Concerning the Gainward CARDEXpert GF2MX TwinView GS:
I looked around on gainward.com's website and found the email to the US distributor for them. (Go to 'Contact Us' > US distributor... the email address is right there..)
Here is the reply:
"You can try www.mixpc.com or call our distributor AVUS 626-333-3833."

Concerning the KDS computers , here is the reply I got, when asking if the CardExpert Geforce2MX dual head is a dual VGA card:
"It is Dual VGA (dual Head) and also has a video out port It is retail box and has driver CD.."

So there you have it.

5 speed: The E-VGA twinview cards can do different resolutions. E-VGA TwinView FAQ
I was just as suprised as you were to find that these come in straight dual VGA- the dual head was exactly what I was looking for. Notice that (i think) 3 of the links at the top of the page are dual-VGA cards. Also note concerning using 2 CRT monitors and an external TV-out: the e-vga site says "Please Remember: For TwinView output, you can use only two different outputs at one time, so even on cards with more than two outputs, you will be limited to using only two at a time."

We might assume that.. but if not, then $150 would be a lot to spend on luvin' that isn't flexible.

You know what they say:
Any luvin is good luvin- except for luvin that is unflexible monitor resolution ability.

ahem!

Anyways, [shout]C'mon KDS Computers![/Shout]

I ordered my Gainward last night. hee gee

hehe, I'll probably hold off on that Geforce until I can pawn my G450 off to someone at a fair price. Now that I've experienced dual monitors, I don't think I can go back without a withdraw period. Although I do wish I had enough money to get a 22" and a flat panel

I really hope that the Gainward card does support the ability to be able to display different resolutions. From reading the TwinVeiw FAQ at evga's website, you are able to have different resolutions when in win98- but in NT and 2000, it says that you must have the same resolution. I hate being this lazy and not posting the links, but I am at work and can't access the site how I want right now.

5speed: How do you utilize both of your monitors? I am starting to think that I would rather sell my old 21" HP-4333A and get a nice new Flat Mitsubishi 19", or a flat 19" KDS. (Then use a cheap 14" SVGA monitor to test webpages with.)

I have some more questions about how you use your monitors, but it is off topic.. so email me at charlesshepherdwilson AT home.com and tell me how you use em.

or, my icq and AIM stuff is in my profile. thanks!
