GF3 Engineering Sample

Just got a Visiontech GF3 from newegg and it has a sticker on it that says Engineering Sample not for sale. Just wondering if anyone has seen this before and if it is something to be concerned with. Let me know. Thanks!

id be a little concerned...engineering samples usually dont carry a warranty...its also considered a testing mule to iron out bugs before a board goes into final production meaning flaws could possibly exist. id call newegg and verify the warranty

No warranty, but it might overclock a little higher if my memory serves me right..


But I would rather have the warranty..

Definately return to Newegg. Engineering samples should not be sold to the public. Many boads that we have that are engineering samples are reworked boards that have gone through previous hardware bugs. Contact Newegg and get a refund.

Nope! I just got my order in today. Got a MSI K7T266 Pro2 and a Visiontek Geforce3 board. It was wierd seeing that engineering sticker on my new video card. I am going to actually call Visiontek tomorrow to ask them about this. Thanks for the replies!!!

I have a board which had an Engineering revision of a bios (dosn't anymore). never caused me any problems.

I am not sure why you are upset.Is is because the Geforce 3 Ti 500 does not offer a high enough performance upgradeas you expected? If you take Anand's review, it is about 9%-17% higher performance average depending on resolution over the Geforce 3. How did we ruin it for Geforce3 owners? Most of them are still very happy with their current cards. Most customers are happy that their Geforce 3 cards still give them smooth performance, even with all the eye candy turned on. Most Geforce 3 owners are veryhappy with their cards according to the emails we receive. ManyNVIDIA customers who wish to upgrade their older generation cards are happy that we have branched out the Geforce 3 linesince this gives themmore choices and offers them a more affordable solution (Geforce 3 Ti200). With theDetonator XP drivers, we have given customers aperformance boost, for free.And we are not done yet with our drivers.

As for marketing and software team, we work closely together and both of our goals are the same. Both groups contain some of the most talented people in their industry.

As stated before, most customers we receivefeedback from are very happy with their Geforce3 purchases. Only complaints we receive is that there isn't enough games toshow of their video cards features. Our developer relations groups is working hardto make surethat won't be a problem for long.

whoa whoa whoa, a couple things..


1) I love my card

2) your drivers are the best in the industry

3) I was expecting a BIGGER difference than 6%, taken from your system analyzer.




I used to be a 3dfx fanboy and hated you guys w/ a passion, then you swallowed them up, and I refused to buy NV; then there was the GF3 and people were touting it as the next Voodoo2 in way of graphic leaps..

I bit, and loved the taste, but I expected like 20% out of the next development cycle..


Mad props for the GF3Ti200, that is a hell of a card for $200..


And I know you have another 20% in the drivers up your sleeve

I'm taking back my 8500 today, the reviews suck, and I have a feeling that when ATi finally releases drivers too support all the features, yall will release the Det5's and sink their dingy..


Dont let us down w/ the GF4 or Eclipse or whatever your calling it, we have high hopes for this one..

I ran the Unreal 2 Alpha w/ my GF3 and it was ungodly sweet..

and I cant wait for Aquanox...


Life is good in the NV world apparently, but I'll just hold out for the GF4..
