gf3 upgrade from tnt1?

I'm about to finally get started on my new system(i think :\) and I would like your opinions on whether a gf3 will last me 2 years about...My current card is a tnt1 and I've had that for about two years and it could play decently all games up til recently pretty fine, just with not all maxed out options and high res(obviously). So I'd like to know your input on if the gf3 in two years could perform similar to a tnt does now. I was considering waiting for a r200 and the nv25, but I realize something 'new and exciting' will always be around the corner

Hmmm he's runing a tnt1. I guess the gf3 can last you 2 years but it wouldnt last me 2 years though. It depends on your standards.

what games do you play? do you usually buy the latest game? if a tnt1 has lasted you "ok" up until now, then a gf3 will last you more than two years, way more LOL. BTW, R200 will be out in late Sept. early Oct. if you need this system to game on for summer, either buy gf3 now or grab a $100 card for now, preferably a PCI so you can use both in system. Tv out on PCI and monitor for AGP or whatever, and spend $250 or more later like 8 months for gf3+ or the faster clocked r200. if you can wait, buy rad2, it will last you longer than gf3.

Thanks for teh replies guys, I think I will decide to wait for the next cycle(nv25 and r200) to see what they offer and the prices.

Hang in there man. I'd wait for the new nForce or Crush or whatever that new chipset is coming out from Nvidia. Save your money and grab it the day it hits stores. O/C that TNT and pull every last bit until the new card comes out. You'll be much happier I'm willing to bet.

If you care going to hold out for a card later in the year, you could always pick up a Radeon LE for $70. Should hold you over until then and will offer much better performance than a TNT card.

just to prevent confusion, "crush" is nVidia's upcoming Athlon chipset, which has integrated video. it is NOT a standalone video card chipset.

If your TNT has lasted this long, your GF3 will definitely last you two years.

hell if hs tnt1 is doing fine untell recently a gts will do him fine for 2 years
