I have GGG winning with an 8th round KO to the body.

Canelo is going to be sorry he stopped ducking GGG.

so sad... most people donate £5 to charity in the UK and people are paying 80 to watch 2 girls fight so sad

eh say wha?......

This will be an early finish by GGG (possible but not likely) or it will be one of the best fights of all time.

That was an amazing fight, even when GGG had Canelo tiring out near the end Canelo came back with some nice crisp punches. GGG has jaws of steel and he was walking through the punches though.

I would give the fight to GGG by 3 rounds, it was a close fight, I think a draw is also possible but that first score card was bullshit. No way Canelo won 10 rounds.

I stopped paying for boxing matches because of crap like that.

The first Holyfield vs Lewis fight was the last PPV I paid for and watched. I was rooting for Holyfield and the decision of that fight was so far off. There was no way Holyfield should have won a decision on anyone's card, just like this fight.

I will have to rewatch it, but a draw wasn't that bad. I mean, 118-110 is ridiculous, but a draw wasn't that much of a robbery.

It was a close, competitive fight that judge Dave Moretti scored 115-113 in favor of Golovkin and judge Don Trella scored 114-114. It was Byrd's scorecard that was the stunner.
She had it 118-110 in favor of Alvarez, giving Golovkin only the fourth and seventh rounds on a scorecard that likely will go down as one of the most shocking in boxing history.

This is not Byrd's first controversial scorecard. She had Diego Magdaleno defeating Nonito Donaire 118-110 to win a junior featherweight world title in 2016 in a fight the other judges had closer. Another example was the 2012 junior middleweight title fight between Austin Trout and Miguel Cotto. Trout won the fight, but Byrd's 119-109 scorecard in favor of Trout was a stunner.

Its a shame because the fight was compelling and the fighters delivered on the hype. There would have been a rematch regardless.

And that will be a joke too. Boxing will always be a joke as long as supposedly compelling fights are scored like USA vs USSR Cold War era figure skating.

Want to at least partially fix boxing? Eliminate draws and silly outlier scoring. Go to 7 judges and a fighter has to be ahead on 5 cards to claim a decision. If nobody has a big enough lead they go right back into the ring for overtime.

one might even call it 'sudden death'

One might purposely avoid using that term to partially mitigate the lawsuits when it happens.

Boxing knows how flawed the judging system is and could easily change it. The fact that they refuse to has to be either than it's harder to fix fights with more judges (possible) or that it would be a laughingstock when a 19 judge panel split 10-9 with the scores ranging from 120-108 for fighter A to 120-108 for fighter B proving that it's a sham and the judges are just writing down random numbers because they're incompetent blind chimps (probable).

Demanding and getting a clear indisputable winner is possible and the fact that boxing doesn't even try is why it's such a fringe sport. I wonder what would happen if the NFL let the Super Bowl end in a draw and said "too bad folks, maybe there will be a rematch next year" or even worse tossed out the scores entirely and let three judges pick a winner based on style.

They won't do 15 round fights. They stopped after someone was killed. The real problem is the scoring is subjective to each judge. There isn't actual criteria available to overrule stupid decisions like the 118-110.
