Hey everyone, I have been trying to solve this problem for over three weeks now, but still no solution. This is what is happening, I am getting what can only be described as stuttering, jittery ghosting graphics when I use my mouse to turn and look around in games like Raven Shield and Vietcong. It like a stuttering of the edges of objects like other players, trees, rocks, sides of buildings, etc. As if it is taking a second for the edge to catch up with where the object should be after I turn. When I turn very slowly everything is razor sharp but when I start to speed up my turn thats when the stutttering starts. This is not like the tearing you see when you have Vsync turned off, but again its more like a stuttering of the edges of objects. I am also getting this happening in 2D as well. For instance, when I grab an active window and start moving it around the screen it is jittery. Also when I scroll up and down with the scroll bar. It is really pronounced when I use the auto-scroll feature say in my browser and then start the scroll with my mouse, all the text and images are almost unreadable when the stuttering starts. Again when I go slow it is ok but as soon as I start to speed up the scroll it happens and gets worse the faster I go.

I am running these games at 1024x768 at 85Hz with Vsync on and getting a solid 85FPS when I am looking at the ground or the side of a wall or where no other teammates are standing. It drops to 30-50FPS when I am looking everywhere else or looking directly at other players. Now here is the REALLY strange thing, when I am looking at a wall with say a tree in front of it and getting 85FPS I dont get the edge stuttering/ghosting of the tree when I turn! But when I start to move around where my FPS drops to 30-50 thats when the edge stuttering starts! This leads me to believe that it definatly has something to do with FPS, but I would think that even with 30-50FPS that this issue should not be happening?

I have tried just about every resolution and configuration in my Direct3D control panel as well as several different Catalyst and Omega video drivers to fix this but it still keeps happening. I am not overclocking. My CPU temps are 31 idle and 40 under full load. I have done a fresh install of Windows XP, I have defraged, scan disked, virus/spyware checked and done everything else to confirm that my rig is operating properly. After ruling out any software relation to the problem I started the process of elimination on my hardware. I replaced my power supply with a brand new one, replaced my motherboard, replaced my 9700Pro, replaced my mouse and also tried using another monitor and still this issue persists!

Have any of your forum veterans seen this before and is there a way to solve this?

My current rig build:

ASUS P4PE, P4 2.4b, 512M Corsair XMS PC3500 DDR433 CAS2, ATI 9700Pro, Audigy 2, MS Intellimouse Optical Mouse, iiyama 21" Vision Master 502 Monitor, WinXP Pro Sp1

did you try a dxdiag ? (from startmenu, RUN, type 'dxdiag')...under 'display' are all th dx9 acceleration features anabled ?
Sounds like you dont have directdraw h/w acceleration or smething.

Also...i assume uou have the latest chipset drivers, directx and everything ?

btw. did you always have that issue ? did you install any tools likerage3dtweak etc. who might have disabled something ?

also use a tool like win taskmon or taskinfo to check what's running. also..check what services are running. a good site is www.answersthatwork.com/Tasklist_pages/tasklist.htm - they list tasks which might be running with description.

but...i am almost 99,9% positive you dont have directdraw h/w acceleration..thinking how to fix that....hmmm...

What *i* would do, uninstall drivers (first control panel, then drivers)
boot into win...cancel both 'new hardware found" requesters

There is a tool called 'regcleaner'....use that to get rid of any entries in the registry where it says ATI/ display driver...etc...

Also look for entries of tools like rage3dtweak and similiar (of course you uninstalled those programs already) ....delete only THESE entries
and keep other registry entries untouched !!!!!
If you're quite sure you got rid of all old ATI driver entries...install the new drivers.
Also...newest chipset drivers.

I never had this issue...it can ALSO be you can just plain enable the acceleration from within dxdiag, then you wouldnt need to renstall anything.
