Got it, and installed. Textures are not that great, but I just played for a few mins, so its a little early to pass judgement just yet. Plan to play more later.

Runs fairly well. Its pretty demanding though it seems.

edit, anyone know why it has to install the AGEIA PhysX driver? It has to even if you dont have a card for it.

Opty 165@2.6gig, X1900's in Crossfire, A8R32-MVP, 2x1gig Ballistix PC4000, X-Fi, 2405FPW. Ive got about an hour to play before I go get my girl from school, Ill try to get some shots up if interested. Although Im sure you can google for them and find lots.

I doubt the second core helps at all at my res. FS did an article on dual core and Oblivion. Only in a very low res, does the second core matter, just like every other game.

I am MOST impressed with all the Widescreen options. Almost every res you can think of is included, which is very nice.

dual core for gaming seems like marketing to me now

it doesn't help a bit in high resolution where it's gpu limited

and ackmed, what kinda frames r u getting?
thanks!

I agree. I am at 1920x1200, with 16xAF on enabled thru the game, and HQ AF enabled in the drivers. Mip Map detail level is to the max in the drivers. All game options are set to max in the game. So basically, everything but AA is set to the highest. I didnt have AA on, because I didnt see it in the game options. I dont know if Im blind, but I just dont see it.

At first I was getting about 22-25 frames in fire fights. Then I thought its probably not using Crossfire. So I renamed it to "AFR-FriendlyD3D", and my frames nearly doubled. I am not at about 45fps in the same sceen. I got some pics, Ill hot them and post them in a bit. I may go back and do a before and after with and without CF enabled, and have fraps record the frames in the pic. So be back in a bit with some pics.

As you can see, AA is not enabled. Pic 4 clearly show how hadly it looks without AA, mostly the power lines. And people say you dont need AA at high resolutions... ? I cant stand to play without it. Looks like Ill be forcing it thru the drivers.

still downloading

but judging by the pics ackmed posted (thanks!), the game doesn't look all that impressive without aa

even without aa, the game isn't running that great and that's on a crossfire setup

what the hell did the developer expect us average users to have?!

Oh wow! this game needs AA worse than BF2!
I'll try it out tonight but If your crossfire setup is giving you those number, my single card will cry

what do you think of the HDR? (is there HDR in this? they got it on the 360) can you do some AA and HDR performance numbers with your crossfire setup please?

i am downloading now, (well in a que) hopefully i will have it 2night

will post pics, and comments using my SLI system (7800GT's in SLI, so not as powerful as Ackmed's CF set up but ill be runnin a much lower res...poor 17 inch monitor)

i will try with and without SLI see if i get the same results as ackmed (ie getting over 2x the performance)

Because the drivers provides the software emulation for the physics card. Basically instead of doing the physics on the PPU, it's doing it on the CPU. The drivers are essentially the libraries that the game calls into (and the driver will return the correct calculations with or without the card -- the drivers either calls through the card or does it on the CPU).

Ok, after some more testing with, and without Crossfire working, I have some strange conclusions. For some reason, CF seems to get more than 2x the frames at times. I know thats not possible (unless cards are under clocked, then overclocked), so if anyone has some insight, feel free to let me know. Some examples of what Im talking about below.

Crossfire Disabled
Crossfire Enabled

That is the spawn point. So the shots are from a 100% identical standpoint. As you can see, without CF it was 27, with it 58. More than double.

Crossfire Disabled
Crossfire Enabled

Much bigger difference here. 21fps up to 54fps. This is still the spawn point, I just moved left.

Crossfire Disabled
Crossfire Enabled

The biggest difference so far. 22fps jumped up to 58fps. Almost triple.

All of these shots are with the same exact settings. All I did when changing, was rename the .exe of the game. Thats it. I didnt change any driver, or game settings. The only thing I can think of, is naming it to "AFR-FriendlyD3D" perhaps has some sort of optimizations? I am not claiming that CF in this game gives you 2x+ the performance increase, Im just a little confused as to why I am getting these results. The images look the same to me. Open them up side by side, and compare. I cant see any difference in quality anywhere. They are at 1920x1200 so most people wont be able to see them how they are ment to be seen. They were taken with FRAPS in a .bmp format, then converted to .jpeg with ACDSee.

the physics looked pretty intense in this game (from the videos ive seen) so maybe the low frames even with CF is due to the high demand knocking on the CPU's door?

Ackmed, play around with the AI settings on a single card and see if it effects the FPS a lot.
