I was watchign Die Hard With a Vengence for the umpteenth time and I realized why todays sequels and remakes suck. (apologies if everyone had this epiphany already).

The movies they are trying to emulate were made for adults when they were made. They may have been stupid, immature, etc, but they took risks. Sure we as kids may have enjoyed them, but they weren't dumbed down for kids.

NOW, they aren't trying to market to adults at all, just kids. As many kids as they can. They no longer care about R ratings - or adults in general. They are taking adult themed movies and writing them for kids to shoehorn in the PG-13 ratings and it just doesn't work in most cases. Especially if you liked the earlier films. Don't get me wrong, a movie doesn't have to have constant cursing or bloodshed/violence to be good, but there is a definite overall feeling in many of todays remakes/reboots/sequels that lead to them not living up to their previous ones by playing it safe.

Errr, uhhh, I think a re-remake is absolutely called for now. If someone said, "I'll give you a million dollars if you make the worst possible version of the original song" - we've found a winner.

I wonder if the Hollywood idiots took notice of the trailers for the movie. The first trailer had eleventy million dislikes. A fan took clips from the original trailer, tossed in the original Ghostbusters theme song, and the trailer looked awesome. Hollywood attempted to copy the idea - "Yeah! Let's use the original song! But, we've gotta update it."

Quite frankly, the movie would possibly be watchable if they used the original version and didn't change a thing. But, I have a feeling that if I went to the movie, I wouldn't be able to enjoy it - half way through, I'd have to puncture my eardrums to make the pain stop from this new version of the song.

Maybe it's like New Coke. They'll let everybody hate on it for a while, then bring back Ghostbusters Classic.

I was just thinking that the song sucks. But wow, you're right, if they actually integrate that into parts of the movie it would be suicide-inducing. Hopefully it just plays over the credits so people can leave the theater to get away from it.

I'm assuming they're going to bring in the most of the main actors from the previous installments. I'm pretty interested to see how they're going to pull this movie off, or if it's just a cash grab like most movies that they try to revive.

From my understanding they are pretty much doing a carbon copy of the original move.
The director Paul Feig was asked to do a pass the torch type of movie to the woman cast members but he did not want to do that kind of movie.

They should have done a pass the torch now that I think of it. Most of the old cast is going to make an appearance in the movie any ways. I think it would of been a better movie.

This is the rumor that I heard so take any way you want.
