Typical modern Lego fail.

I never even liked the Stars Wars and similar stuff that came out when I was a kid, because something like an X-wing would use all kinds of weird pieces that they made just for it. Special little bits for the cockpit or some little detail...that's okay. But the primary structure should be generic Lego shapes.

However, that kind of gripe seems absolutely minute when you compare it to that 'Lego' car...where is the Lego part?! It's just a plastic car.

Plenty of those sets exist...they don't sell very well, but they exist. The entire Creator line is made of more generic-type Lego bricks. Think of it like this, specialized and licensed sets support Lego so that they can make "real" Lego sets.

I'm not sure what exactly the fess is about anyway. I loved the space and pirates lines when I was a kid as well as my box of Lego bricks. The models have gotten a bit more detailed since then, but they're built mostly the same way. They certainly haven't pulled a Megablocks and combined many pieces together, except for the city sets and those are meant for 5 year olds.

Ichinisan made a pretty cool Airwolf replica helicopter with Lego's when we were kids. We didn't have a black tapered piece for the top of the nose so we painted one.

I can't see too much of the car's details but an awful lot of it looks like classic pieces.

I made my X-Wing out of predominately Ice Planet pieces and my Tie Fighter out of mostly Blacktron (original) pieces. That all predated actual Star Wars sets by at least 5 years. They obviously weren't as detailed, clean, or well proportioned as the real Star Wars sets, but they were still very good.

I still want this Ghostbusters set though.
