My g/f went to a supposedly haunted place in KY. An old TB clinical/nut house.. Said she saw lots of shadow figures, etc etc.

I never seen or experienced, so I don't believe.

Although I do know some people that say they have, I think it's simply a case of differentiating reality from dreams at times.

The was a show on Discovery I saw years ago... It's called "A Haunting". They basically reinact events that happen. One of them, this family moved to a new house and their kid started acting weird.

They found out he was possessed by a demon that lived in the basement.

Luckily, they were Catholic! They simply called up their priest who got on the horn with another priest that could practice an exorcism! Whew! That was a close one. If they were Methodist, they would have been screwed!

I always wondered - if ghosts can go through walls, why do floors hold them up?

I always wondered why there are such things as haunted graveyards... If I was dead, I wouldn't want to hang out around a bunch of stiffs in the ground. I'd probably go to Vegas or go haunt somewhere tropical.

While it's easily explained that Catholics are more gullible than most, I'm not sure that could suffice as an explanation. When exorcisms "work" (do they? these "based on a true story" and "reenactment" stories are always exaggerated - what was the REAL outcome? Lasting effects, or just temporary? Kid starts demanding attention again? Kid goes off the deep end?), it's difficult to really figure out if the kid was just acting for attention or loony but scared enough to act straight again.

Bat shit crazy isn't something that can be cured - and kids randomly starting to act like they are literally bat shit crazy and possessed, while it does seem like a cry for attention, seems a bit extreme. Usually kids fail to hold up a perfect act, and good parents just beat the shit out of the kid after a certain point in time (little fuckers deserve it if they are truly acting like a demon for a few days/weeks).

Then again, the power of suggestion is strong during the exorcism routines. Maybe they are mild ADHD with a hint of bat shit crazy syndrome - perhaps a real and suggestive enough routine is enough for those that at least remotely believe in the concept of god, satan, angels, and demons.

The other explanation: demons do possess others, but maybe they have gotten clued in enough that possessing certain "types" of people is a worthless endeavor. Nothing says "fuck you angels and god!" like getting trapped in a person labeled crazy and sent to the psych ward to live the rest of their days.
Curious if there have been any truly bat-shit crazy, seemingly possessed people, who were sent to a mental institution only to end up recovering some time later... but of course nobody believes them, and leaves them locked up. :hmm:

Assuming there had been millions upon billions of people who had formerly lived on earth and have passed already... wouldn't you think there would be more hauntings etc and evidence that ghosts are still here on earth? I would imagine there would be cities full of ghosts and not just one or a few haunting a particular area... and wouldn't the hauntings be forever... until they've been put to rest?

I don't believe. I think I heard somewhere that there were 30 dead people for each and every living person. With those kind of odds I would think everyone would have run into a ghost by now.

Unless not everyone can perceive them. I have experienced several events that I couldn't logically figure out and there was no explaining them, but again back to my previous post, the phenomena definitely exists, I just think it's natural and such things have always occurred.
I do think its very common, just that when they are vague or small things happening, most people don't pay attention or quickly disregard it.

Me too! When I drop something, it falls to the ground. Nobody can logically explain why gravity exists or why all objects have it, yet there it is.

Clearly, that means ghosts exists!

The natural consequence of the presence of matter causing a curvature of spacetime and spacetime is distorted by the accelerating movement of dark energy seems logical enough to me. Certainly more logical than most theories about supernatural phenomenon.
No need to be a douche about the subject of ghosts.

Easy pickings? Low hanging fruit?

Ghosts and Demons are serious business. Being you are from Texas you only have to deal 50% with Steers according to Full Metal Jacket.

The funny thing is you bridged a gap between a Louisiana thread and a Texas one now. When I was in Shreveport on work right around 1999, I hooked up with a Lynda Carter look alike from her 20's/30's that contacted me online. I drove out there and was nicely taken care of. She was a teacher and took me into the school on a weekend (no kids were there) and put on a show in her classroom. Then we ate/drank and she brought me to her house where she pre-made chocolate covered strawberries (weird!), but then I took her anyway I wanted so it made up for it.

Thanks bro.

Why did you post a picture of Miley Cyrus?
Hmm, that might explain a few things. :hmm:
