Believe it or not, New England used to have a huge population of lobsters and ground them up for fertilizer.

If there is good money to be made, and catching king crabs is a good way to make money, I don't see a problem, unless Norwegians don't know how to catch crabs.

If King Crabs are not really crabs b/c of the six-leg thing, then what the hell are they? Fake crabs? Crabettes? Wannabea-crabs?

They're obviously crustaceans of some kind...but WHAT kind then?

The marvelously delicious kind. Man, Norway gets all the luck. Our environmental threats are always lame, oil spills, hurricanes, etc.

They do fish for the "Red" variety of King crab, it's a very short season, but the most profitable.

Then they have a "regular" King crab season.

They have also a season for the "opies" (Oplio or sold as "Snow crab"), this is longest season.

The Red King crab goes for something like $40 lb around here. IIRC a single "Red" crab weighs between 5-10 lbs each

Costco sells it for around $12 / lb. Occasional specials can be found under $10, but they are usually not the grade A legs.
