Giantbomb.com Fallout New Vegas Review - 4/5 Stars

I've completed Primm now (~4 hrs into the game) and the only thing I've noticed is the aforementioned white flashing squares on occasion (gtx 460). No showstoppers yet. I'll try lowering the AA and see if that fixes it.

I had a funny bug last night. I was leaving the Prospector's Saloon and when the outdoor world loaded I had no camera control. I could move forward, backward, and strafe, but I couldn't look around. Menu's functioned just fine. I reloaded and all was well.

On topic: The quicksave/autosave bug...what an annoying bug that should not have made it's way through release...how in the world could that passed through quality control?

Anyways, it's not gamebreaking for me, i'm enjoying the game too much right now and manual saves do the job.

wtf. So i was just walking through town and i saw a crate and opened it and there was some sunset sarsaparilla drinks in it, so i took them. One of the townsfolk saw me, came running over, said "you can't take that" and just took a whole bunch of my shit. He took a couple guns, a bunch of aid supplies, ammo, some clothes.

lol. I love how upset you are about gamer logic reversed on yourself, it's cool to take everyone elses shit but god forbid someone walk up and take my shit. Love it.

By the way, thanks for beta testing for me everyone, by the time I get a chance to play this it should be all stable.

A shame about the steamcloud bug, that's ugly, I hope they iron steamcloud out because I like the concept behind it.

I fired up the game last night and clicked Continue, and noticed it didn't load the last save I did. I had to reload from the Load menu. Is that it?

Read my post above. The auto and quick saves are being overwritten on game exit for some people. Some people think it happens after your 1st gaming session (meaning it always reverts back to the auto and quick saves you had at the end of that session). Use real saves instead - frequently in case the game crashes.

Played a bunch yesterday. It completely ate my save files today. Quicksave and autosave are all back at level 1. Saw some other people had the same issue, that it was something to do with the Steam Cloud. Their fix didn't work, save files are just gone. Really disappointed.

I had the same problem, luckily only lost about an hour, still pretty annoying. Hopefully next time I fire it up, my manual saves will be valid.

I wouldn't be complaining if he took the drinks back, or at least asked for a bribe to not turn me in. He just walked up and stole hundreds of caps worth of items because I stole a couple of sodas.

Having a fun time so far.

My GF and I are both playing, I'm on very hard + hardcore difficulty, she's on easy.

Over 4.5 hours of us both playing I haven't seen any bugs like flying people, and her game crashed once. I anticipated this though so we're quick-saving frequently.

I would manually save instead of quicksaving... A lot of people (including me) are having trouble with the quicksave feature:

You using steam? AFAIK, the Quicksave bug is Steam Cloud related.

Well I just had my first crash after 14 hours of gameplay while exiting a building. The quick save and quick load seems a lot quicker to me (1-2s?) than in most games of this type and so far hasn't given me any troubles.

New Vegas is more of the same compared to Fallout 3, and as such there's not that much to say about it. Either you played Fallout 3 and know what to expect based on that, or you haven't and should really play Fallout 3 first since it's much cheaper.

I know, that's why it's funny, you want him to abide by some sort of rule while you get away with stealing everything not nailed down. Instead he took the RIAA route.

I can't tell if it's just the newness of the game but I like the beginning of New Vegas more than I do the beginning of Fallout 3. I remember finding it hard to get into F3 but when I did I loved it.

Played about 5 hours and had a couple game crashes, but nothing serious. When the game crashed the first time, I did lose my quicksaves, but I was saving regularly manually as a backup (after reading this thread!). No gameplay glitches, so that is the big thing for me. FO3 was really bad for me with crashes until I discovered my Asus Xonar soundcard was the culprit. When I went back to onboard sound, it cleared right up.

Good game so far.

According to Bethesda the second patch should fix autosave and quicksave issues, apparently this problem was not noticed prior to release because it was such a difficult thing to replicate during beta testing.

How the #$%@ is autosave a difficult thing to replicate?
