I mean...illegal formation, there's a yardage penalty...but they basically get a do-over on their 1st down.

I think they should have declined that - I mean...whether it's at the 1 yard line or the 6 yard line isn't going to make too much difference for the Pats. Either the Giants are going to stop them or they aren't at that point.

Given the Pats offensive tendencies, I think that penalty helped them. They are obvious running from the 1, but the 6 yards gives them more passing formation calls.

Exactly - and the Giants seem to be able to stop the runs better than the pass plays - and even if it's at the 1, it was still a 2nd down so at least a bit better chances. They could always just pile up and send someone jumping over for a try though too.

yeah it should have. the guy had his hands on him while the ball was in the air. you can't do that.

he had dominate position. if he would have turned around and looked for the ball it wouldnt have been a flag. instead he was pushing etc while facing moss and not the play.

The play is blown dead... this is the same as if a false start was called; even if Vrabel had made that catch it wouldn't have counted.

while yes i agree moss gets away with a lot. it was PI the defender can not have his hands on him when the ball is in the air. it was a fair PI call.
