Actually, the Giants spoiling the Pats' perfect season bid would be remembered longer than if they made it through the first or second round of the playoffs. IMO, certain records are more significant than winning a championship.

No record is more important than a championship. Ask the Giants if given a choice would they would rather beat the Pats this week, or win the SB.

Never know, they can run the ball and put pressure on a QB. Granted they will be playing on the road but look at their road record (7-1). Pitt was a road team in 2005 at 6-2 and they ran off 3 road wins to get to the SB. Of course Ben had some fantastic games on that journey and IMHO Eli couldn't match that performance, but other parts of their team could get the job done. Playoffs are anyone's game, the ultimate example of the "any team/any Sunday" mantra.

I still agree with the O/P, this week means nothing to the Giants in comparison to their most important goal. Resting their starters or doing whatever they feel gives them the best shot in the postseason is the wisest choice as opposed to "having fun this week".

Except of course for this saturday, because apparently one team isn't going to try.

I am sure they will try to win no matter who they put on the field, but a victory in this game is not worth diminishing their chances in the playoffs. I feel the same about NE, no regular season record is worth losing Brady/Moss to a season ending injury. I am sure if given the choice NE would rather have a regular season loss than a playoff loss.

If the Patriots do not win the Super Bowl then their whole season is a failure.

Who cares what's remembered longer? They don't play the season to be remembered, they play it to win. The entire point of a football season is to try and win the SB. Anything that helps a team get there is a good thing. Anything that hurts those chances is not a good thing. That's all there is to it AFAIC.

As a Giants fan, beating the Pats would be as great to me as them winning the Super Bowl.

Why would the Giants risk getting their key guys hurt in a meaningless game? I think they would be letting down Giants fans if that actually happened.

For the Patriots sake I hope they play Eli:thumbsup::laugh:

Interceptions ahoy!

Why? They weren't the preseason pick to win the SB.

Quite a few pubs picked them to win it all, not that it matters. Vegas also had them as the favs in the preseason. Considering the season they have enjoyed not winning the SB would be considered a failure. IMHO the most important goal of every team heading into the season is to win the championship, and falling short is a failure.

8 first place votes out of 13 possible, no other team got more than 3.

Anyways, perfection only comes at 19-0.

It means they were caught and penalized for cheating. Anything they achieve this year will be tainted. It's funny how those on the bandwagon choose to ignore this.

Whatever happened to "Cheaters never prosper"? (Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire, etc.) Cheating truly is ruining pro sports.

Tell me, what competitive advantage did the Patriots receive THIS YEAR from getting caught using cameras in the 1st quarter of the 1st game of the season? They did not even have a chance to take a look at the tape. You comparing this to steroids makes you look retarded (oh wait, you ARE retarded).

If anything it casts a shadow of doubt on previous seasons, not this one. It has been observed that in the past they almost always made perfect halftime adjustments and that trend has not been the case this year.

A better comparison would be the use of HGH, ala Harrison. I think the NFL should make it an allowable substance, party because it is a natural product of the body but mostly for the medical benefits it offers in dealing with injuries. Make it available to all and any issue of advantage is negated.

What about the Pats half-time adjustments this year against Pitt?

A trick play is an adjustment lol. They did well when Townsend went down, Welker was finally able to get open but that was not an adjustment. Exposing essentially a rookie player with less than 10 starts under his belt is hardly anything to crow about, but it obviously makes you guys feel good so please continue.

That game turned on 4 plays, all mistakes by Pitt not some dominating move by NE or any halftime adjustments. Love to see Pitt play them again with Troy on the field, especially with January weather.

What about the halftime adjustments in the Miami game? Fact is in the past they have almost always dominated in the second half after making adjustments, this season they have not been nearly as consistent in that regard.

I made all my points regarding the O/P, no desire to argue with Pats trolls though. If anyone wants to see this game but does not have the NFL Network hit me up via PM and I will send you a link for a stream.

The Colts won't even make it to the AFC Championship game.
And even if they do, it'll be in New England. Peyton is 0-for the outdoors in January.

Cheating is cheating, period. Whether it's steroids or taping another team, it's cheating. I'm sure that's simple enough for even you to understand.

rest or not, giants are gonna be 1 and done in the playoffs, possibly spoiling patriots perfect season is more of an achievement than losing in the first round of the playffs

You're making a retarded comparison. What advantage did the Patriots receive from taping THIS YEAR. The Patriots were not able to gain any advantage because they were 'lucky' to be caught in the 1st quarter of the 1st game rather than later. As soon as you inject yourself with steroids, you receive an advantage. The comparison you're making is stupid. Nothing they achieved this year is tainted. Even Alistar (who is no pats lover) can make this distinction. You can debate previous years, but to say anything is tainted this year is stupid, just like you.

The adjustments I was referring to was the Pats Defense shutting down the Pitt offense the second-half. And yes, making small adjustments on the offense allowed the Pats to move at will on the Steelers. You obviously weren't watching the finer points of the whole game.

Miami? More like the game is over at half-time, no need to make any adjustments.
