Giga-Byte = Good Reputation?

I am strongly considering Giga-Byte's GA-8IRX (i845-B) motherboard. The other boards I am looking at are mainly from ASUS and MSI. ASUS of course is charging an unnecessary premium, IMO, and I'd rather have 6 PCI slots instead of MSI's 5. Can I really go wrong with Giga-Byte?

In general, Gigabyte boards are good, particularly their Intel based boards. They're not known for a lot of overclocking type features, more for stability/longevity/compatibility.

I have had a lot of good experiences with Giga-Byte boards. The opposite is true for Asus and MSI. I had one MSI K7T-Pro die after 6 months (just like everyone else). I have had nothing but trouble with Asus MBs. I would not use another Asus board if you paid me.

I've been using a Gigabyte board for over a year with no complaints. I'm at work now, and can't quite remember the exact model, but I think it's the GA-7ZX, it's got the K133 chipset and I'm running a Tbird 850. No stability problems at all, I'd highly recommend this brand to anyone.

I've got a Gigabyte GA-7ZXE with a Duron 800 on it, and it works fine for me.

AMD uses Gigabyte in their demo systems, and they have a well deserved reputation for stability.

I had a Gigabyte BX2000+ (440BX) for my old Celeron & Pentium3 and it was a nice board. It was extremely stable and I never had any problems with it.

Most small system builders where I live use Gigabyte so they can't be all bad

My younger brother uses an Gigabyte GA7DX board (with a T-bird 1.4). It seems very stable, and plenty quick for a 761 chipset board. It's downsides are that the BIOS doesn't have as many options as you may like (i.e. no core voltage selection, no frequency multiplier selection). It doesn't seem to be an enthusiast's board. Perhaps other boards in the range have more options. This is the only one I know, so I can't claim to have wide brand experience here. Summary - Gigabyte boards seem very reliable, but not very 'tweakable'.

gigabyte makes good poop...they just generally cater to the OEM market a little more, thus offering less OC features and such...

still stable and performs well...dual bios is a plus...so is the cheaper price.

I always buy Gigabyte for stability/price. They are every bit as good as Asus and others and generally cheaper.

Gigabyte is good... I have used a few of them, even a couple older models like the GA-5AX SS7 board, and the GA-7ZX and 7VTX boards... They're very satisfactory.

I just got a Gigabyte GA6OXET-C 815EP board. It has 1/5 and 1/6 PCI dividers which is a pretty unique/cool feature.

if i set this up like this 133 x 10.5 i dont see anything the thing sounds like its posting but i cant see

if i set it up like this 140 x 10 it works fine stable and all that but i dont think its running at its best or is it ??

please help me set this sucker up

I never owned one, but heard nothing but good things about Gigabyte. By the way, Gigabyte is bigger and more popular than ASUS or ABIT in Taiwan. There are public ads everywhere in Taiwan, and it seems like the MB of choice if you go to computer shops.

By the way, I personally dislike ASUS. Their tech support is horrible. I'm sure they made good boards, but I would go with ABIT, EPoX, or MSI before I even touch ASUS. Plus, their prices are usually the highest among MB manufacturers.
