But it is the only device, the drive is brand new 120GB Western digital and set to Single Drive only... and the cable is a workable cable and have also tried 5 different cables and all the same problem. Could the IDE Port 1 be bad ??? When others are ok.. I check and the pins on the IDE 1 port seems ok.. What can I do ?

Are you trying to stick an ATA 133 drive into a port that supports only up to ATA 100? Check your drive specs. It is easy to overlook that.

You can plug ATA133 drive into ATA33 port and it still will work just fine. The only problem that
you will have is that ATA133 drive will run at ATA33 performance. Trust me. Have been working
with computers for 9.5 years 8 hours a day. Well... another thing is your BIOS might not recognize
120GB, if it doesn't support it. Might come up as 8 or 32GB, depending on the version.

he Drive is one of those New 8MB Cache Western Digital which is a ATA 100 I believe and only 120GB... strangely ig I put the drive and DVD ROM or CD Writer as

1. IDE 1 - Western Digital Drive 120GB 8MB Cache
2. IDE 1 - CDRW Drive

Then it works,,,,,,,,,,,, does it mean something ?? and does not show the Slave Drive Failure or Primary Drive Failure.. yes I work with PCs all day as well but this is the first time... any ideas ? The Mobo supports a ATA 133 and is the new 845E or at least new to me still..
