Gigabyte 8PE667..Memory question.

I have narrowed down my choices between this mobo, and the ASus P4PE. Will the memory settings/dividers allow me to get the most out of my Corsair XMS3200? Would the Asus be a better choice? They both seem like excellent boards.

ive used asus in the past, so i would naturally go wthi asus
maybe its a bit biased

my friend is soon to get p4pe when he gets his cpu, as he likes the features and also likes asus

yes memory settings will allow you to get most of pc3200 ram

From what I have read, the Asus has a 3:4 CPU/memory ratio as well as a 4:5 and 1:1 ratios. The Gigabyte only has the 4:5 and 1:1 ratios, so between the two, you would get more out of your memory with the Asus. I have an Epox 4G4A+ (I love this board) and I get the same performance running at 2.8 GHz with the 3:4 ratio as I do running 2.9 GHz with the 4:5 ratio (using SPD timings for both). The 3:4 is a great feature in my book!

Thanks for the replies guys. I think I'll go with the Asus P4PE, after all my P4S533 has served me well. My new P4 2.53 C-1 will be well served in the Asus mobo. The Gigabyte looks good thought. Thanks again.

In the Anandtech review of this Gigabyte board it says that it cannot run more than one stick of ram at DDR333. Is this true with all boards or is it just an isolated problem?
Has anyone else had similar problems because I have read other reviews and this issue has not come up.

Regarding the inability of the Gigabyte 8PE667 Ultra to run more than on stick of DDR333 memory: A FAQ in the support area of the Gigabyte website says the following-

"Q. 8PE667 series - Why cannot my DDR 333 be recognized correctly as 333Mhz but 266Mhz in 8PE667(8GE667) series mother board?

A. Based on Intel 845PE/GE chipset specifications, whether DDR333 can be supported appropriately depends on the CPU type you use. DDR 333 can be recognized correctly only when you use a FSB533 CPU. If you use a FSB400 CPU, then it's very possible that it can be recognized as 266Mhz. "

While this FAQ doesn't directly address the question of running more than one stick of DDR333, I haven't seen any comments which indicated whether or not a FSB533 CPU was used when this problem was reported. The AnandTech review did not state what the FSB of the CPU used in their evaluation was(correct me if I am wrong on this). Has anyone tried running more than 1 stick of DDR 333 with a FSB533 CPU on the 8PE667? If so were you successful?
