Is the Gigabyte 8SG667 out yet? I just read the review and it looks good. USB 2, AGP 8x's, DDR400, etc. and not too many bells and whistles that I dont need.
I have a 1.6A Northwood and a msi 645ultra mobo that goes a little over 2.3ghz(not enough voltage).
Has anyone oc'd a 1.6A on that board? I want to upgrade this board (later the cpu). If I can get the 1.6A past 2.5+ghz stable it might be worth getting it now. I could put my current board into another rig.
What do you think?

On any of the SiS 645DX or 648 boards, don't expect to go much over 150fsb.

So far, per Anandtech's review, the Gigabyte 8SG667 is the only 648 board running stable with DDR400. Maybe Gigabyte will come out with an enhanced version to include onboard LAN/RAID, Serial ATA.

The board in the Anand review hit 150fsb @1.5 volts which isnt bad really. I have an extra Lan and dont need the raid setup.
Anyone know when this board will be out. Curious how it will interact with the DDR400 and the a 9700pro at AGP 8x's. I know it's not a big performance enhancer but all that bandwidth should make it interesting.

For all those that thought that the 648 boards were all gonna suck, think again. This is the board to get. However, the current bios has no voltage adjustments. Gigabyte says they will add them in in the next bios revision. Highly reccommended board for overclocking, only board able to run with all three dimms filled at ddr 400. Quite an impressive feat. This is a solid board overclocking dream board if gigabyte can include the necessary voltage adjustments.

that was true in the review of the board on Anandtech. The review says the shipping version should include the necessary voltage adjustments...just gotta wait for some brave soul to buy it and post. I think I may do it

I'm curious to get this board or Gigabyte GA-8IEX.
which one is better? I've read Anandtech article about GA-8IEXP and 8SG667, both of them are good mb.
oh, another things I noticed are the onboard stuffs of these motherboards is similiar, except the DDR 400 support of 8SG667 and the dual bios of GA-8IEX(don't think I'll need this though).
anybody used these motherboards yet? plz give me your opinions, thnx...

Awesome! Let us know if the BIOS allows you to change the core voltage and memory voltage. I think thats the big question on everyone's minds.

I installed this mobo yesterday. But, I spent too much time trying to get the my old I/O shield to fit the mobo back panel, but one of the serial port connectors are off by a few millimeters. I finally plugged in the board without the I/O shield. Then, with the IDE connectors being all the way on the bottom, I had to move a my cd burner and dvd rom around. I finally fired this up and had the option to setup the memory to 402. The board worked great. Was able to load XP Pro and all the drivers for the Radeon 9700 pro. I was having problems with the ABIT SR7-8X mobo while browsing the internet where the resolution goes back to 640x480 16 colors. No problems at all. I will load QuakeIII when I get home this evening and test this. I ran SIS Sandra memory benchmark and got 2850(not bad). SIS Sandra reports that the memory is running at 2.5-4-4. I was not able to change the cas settings anywhere in the bios , nor was I able to change the voltage on the memory???? Powerstrip shows that the system is running in AGP8x mode. The system is stable though unlike the ABIT board.

TOBEME, did you have problem with your I/O shield matching up with the serial ports?

I picked up my mobo from 11cb.com(In Illinois) since there are nearby, plus they do not ship orders same day. I paid $99 plus tax, but it was worth every penny so far.

11cb is where the others were getting there's! Good find there bud!

Well, F3 shows no V-Core adjustments but there are some indications they are working in that direction because there are new areas which are greyed out.....................

I happened to have an I/O shield which worked so no problems there!

I'm going to load an O/S and see where I can go from here..................so far though, looks damn nice and it's great to have a board I can dump three dimms full of DDR-400 and still have it boot.............we'll see how it goes with the install!
