According to ResellerRatings.com, 11cb.com is NOT a good company to deal with. I'll wait until Newegg or GoogleGear get this motherboard in stock, until then my P4S533 will be enough

"Supposedly" they are under new management and assured others that the orders would be processed quickly and if they had any problems even gave them his name to call for support or RMA................Since I already have mine, I didn't check, but, at $99 PLUS free shipping according to them, sounds like it might be worth a try........................

Oh, and BTW, 'Doz loading so far without a hitch!

I had called 11cb.com before buying from them to be sure they had the mobo in stock and they did. It looks like they take a long time to ship orders if you ship to a different address then your credit card billing address. They were not going to ship the mobo right away if I wanted it shipped to work without calling the credit card company. This is why I left work early and drove to pick up the mobo.

If you do order from them, before you place the order online, call them to be sure they have the mobo in stock and confirm when they will ship the mobo.

Gigabyte is using the standard atx setup, so they do not include an I/O shield. You have to use the one that came with your case. My I/O shield is a standard because it fits in a lot of mobos that are standard. I might have to contact Gigabyte because my board might not have the serial ports installed correctly. I am going to try a friend's I/O shield since his ECS mobo is also using the standard atx setup.

Well.....I know.....BUT...........I have a class reunion today, had "Happy Hour" last night, and am one of the planners so will be busy most of today....................................I can say windows XP & 2K are loaded, both running smooth and no problems/conflicts of any kind. First 648 board I've been able to say this about!:Q The board is stable as a rock and seems fast...................haven't loaded much of any software yet, just came in here to check if all updates were loaded on both. I can say this though.....definately will be the ultimate O/C'ers 648 board if we can get some voltage mods to the bios..........................I'm getting the immpression as I eluded to in another thread that the Asus boards problems may be directly related to all the "extra" features........................perhaps bios updates will bring the Asus board up to par, but, I'm running all three dimms full of Samsung DDR-400 with no problems and the Asus board wouldn't even boot with the same ram so..........................

I'll load some stuff and update again tomorrow after I recouperate!

Man, I've been busy with work lately and you guys have been busy working on your systems. It sounds good so far. I think I'll order one. Which place should I order it from. I live in CA so if I can get it without tax/shipping for $100 or so it would be cool.
I figure it will decent for my 1.6a/XMS2700c2 for now. I'm thinking I'll pick up a 9700pro next month and a faster chip/memory when prices drop over then next few months. Than I'll stuff my current stuff back in the old rig and run 2 systems thru my KVM.

BTW did anyone flash their bios and is the voltage settings working?

I flashed my mobo to the latest bios. Still no voltage adjustment settings(for memory, agp, or cpu). There is a pci/agp lock as someone asked in an earlier thread. The system is rock solid with 9700 pro and ddr400 memory(no adjustments for the cas settings). The memory automatically runs in cas2.5-4-4. Not sure if I got CAS2 Corsair pc3200c2 memory, whether it will change to 2-3-3. Not a big deal as long as the system performs great, which it is. No locks at all. Running XP Pro. The board is worth it for $99(without shipping).

Man I want this thing, but I'm not getting it until SOMEONE sees the clock adjustments (and memory settings)... Not to mention newegg still doesn't carry it.

ToBeMe, I'm very glad you're able to run 3 DIMMS of DDR400, I was getting worried that other 8SG667 boards would be unable to run DDR400 with all 3 banks full, since Gigabyte only certifies stability with 2 DIMMS.

OK, but we still need more guinea pigs. Someone here has got to buy this board in addition to 3 sticks of DDR400 and do more tests. Anyone?

While shopping around the net for this board, I found Spartan Technologies. They sell the Corsair XMS Series memory, but specifically say it does not work with SiS 648. See it here.Link to Spartan Tech's Memory ordering page that contains warning about SiS 648 compat

Scary. I was about to buy that and I know some others here did as well. I think I'll go with Gigabyte's recommend on which to buy now. Good luck to those who got Corsair...

Everything I've read says Corsair is great, and I intended to buy it myself. I've never paid that much attention to the manufacturer, but then I'm not an extreme OCer. I'd like to get a P4 2.4B and push it up to about 2.6 or so just for grins.

Anyone have an opinion on Geil memory?

Wrt the previous posters wanting a BIOS upgrade to alter voltages, I have one concern: an
article on 9/17 at Digitimes reports that VIA and SiS are cancelling their official DDR400 chipsets. Makes me ask, "Will Gigabyte finish what it started with the 8SG667 and deliver that BIOS?"

Dag... I can't bring myself to invest in something I'm not sure about yet. Good point about the dropping of 648DX. My guess is that Gigabyte will stand by their claim. They're probably mostly done with the BIOS by now anyways. I just hope they do this soon!

This board looks great in the review which has set off a fire of knee jerk buying among those that buy a new board every month. But the fact that sis is dropping support for the DDR 400 chipset is a warning, this is a dead end path. Those that need a board to last a year or two had better go more mainstream. DDR 333 boards will rein for the next year or so with lot's of these dead end short term attempts. The next evolution will skip this chipset altogether, the next mainstream evolution that is.

Don777's point is good, but a bit strong IMO. IF Gigabyte does indeed stand by their claims, then the 648 is still a better chipset than the 645DX due to the AGP 8x, the 1gig link between the North and South Bridges, and the fact that it *will* run DDR400 just in case the pundits are wrong.

I'm not one of those that buy a mobo each month or two. In fact, I upgrade about every two years, and although I rationalize about needing overclocking and the wizbang features of the day, I usually don't.

I am considering alteratives...what are yours?

If the Gigabyte doesn't work I'm gonna look at the Asus board for the 648 again -- I doubt I'll go with it just cause I've had the taste of PC3200 DDR in my mouth and an extra $40 in my pocket in savings that this Gigabyte would give me.

Since I'm not real excited about taking a drop in performance, I'll prolly wait a month or so (I have until Nov. 1st till my current machine gets taken). I'm hoping Intel's dual channel DDR chipset will be out by then with a couple of good boards with it. I'm hoping to use PC2700 DDR in one as well when they're gonna only support PC2100... We'll see how the testing goes with that.

If Gigabyte comes through with support/BIOS for this board, though, I'm all over it.
