Gigabyte boards and BSEL mod???

Hi,
I'm seriously looking at the Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P to house my E5200 temporarily until I get the funds to buy a E8400. Currently running the E5200 on an Asrock 4CoreDual-SATA2 so i had to do a BSEL mod to force it to 266fsb. Also, had to do the vid mod to supply 1.3375v to the cpu.

Now if I switch over the E5200 to the UD3P, should I get rid of the BSEL and vid mods? I'm not sure if I understand what I've read correctly, in that, the Gigabyte boards use CPUID to identify the CPU so BSEL will not work correctly?

Either it will magically boot at the higher FSB, or it will boot at the normal speed and ignore the BSEL mod. I'd say leave it modded for now and see how it goes.

Leave your BSEL mod or not, as it shouldn't matter to a GA-EP45-UD3P.

The GA-EP45-UD3P is an excellent mobo with enough cpu/fsb/mem bios settings to enable most cpu setups to achieve extreme overclocks ---> so it should have no problems dealing with your E5200 ?

An example of it's capabilities is that I had no problems overclocking a Q6600 to 3.7GHz ---> where the same Q6600 didn't want to overclock above 3GHz using a Asus P5N-E mobo !

I'm gonna have to experiment with the BSEL mod left but vid mod erased, hoping the UD3P will boot ok then I can set the voltages in the BIOS.
Or if I get lazy, I'll just erase all mods and let UD3P BIOS take care of it.
