I'm lucky. I live by fry's.

So I get to play with all the toys i want before i make up my mind.

I have not built a system in a while... but i had a e5200 sitting around so i start building a system.

the first Mb i tried was ep43-ud3l. Northbridge was running hot, but I overclocked 3.5 easy. got it up to 3.7 stable.

then I got greedy.. I wanted the board at recommended ep45-ud3p.. ahh yeah..

the thing most interested was intel matrix raid 1+0.. since i had a matching pair of WD black 750 sata.. i thought it would be fun.

But EP45-UD3p just won't boot... with dual memory.. in single mode it it will but in dual.. it will not. i didn't know about this untill i start reading newegg. hardocp, and other forums...

I know it is not the other parts because i raided the fry's just to find right solution.

2 ep45-ud3p board was tried .. rev 1.6 latest bios.

tested on one corsair 600w psu and one thermaltake 700w.

tested on 3 diffrent ram. 800 crutical ballastix 2X2gig, 1066 patriot viper, 1066 Corsair ..

tested with 2 diffrent video cards. 9600 gt and ati 4870.

IN VARIOUS combination.


It was so much to boot with ep43.. all of those components work with ep43..

I think ep45 is super picky with memory settng.. ( yes i did set manual timing.. v core. etc..)

i hate this board.

I voted sarcastically because of putting this poll about a "POS" board. I agree with lopri. The board is a great board.

You putting them in the right slots (yellow)?
Are you using the RAID or not?
Does it post at all in dual-channel?

I have this board and it's a great board IMHO. It's got my Q9400 @ 3.73 and RAM at DDR-934. If it will post in dual-channel, try relaxing the RAM timings and boosting voltage.

I can't even get to the post page. i just hear a long beep..

thought it was power. but it just won't boot. I tried yello slots and the red slots. can't boot when there is a two dimms

Ok, now on to trying to get it working. Take everything out of the case and put it on the MB box or some cardboard or something. plug in the CPU + HSF, 1 stick of ram, 1 HD not in any sort of raid and the GPU. Hook up all the power and boot. Does it POST?

A single long beep is a memory error. You cannot use the red slots. You must use both yellow slots for dual-channel. Red is only filled when you have yellow-filled. Is your RAM capable of running at 1.8v? I just use 2x2GB DDR2-800 Patriot el-cheapo RAM.

motherboard + power supply. 24 pin and 8 pin. plugged in 700w power supply.

9800 evga low power edition. ( which required 18 on 12v rail. which i have)

pluged in one sata drive on sata0

connector for front cables.. just speaker and sw power.


Works great in single channel mode. bank 1. only it will boot with 1.8v

works great 2x2gb in bank one and two single channel mode.


won;t boot in bank 1 and 3..


tried.. with out hard drive plugged in

tried... booting with one ram .. set the timing to 4-4-4-12 2.0v.. or 5.5.5.18.. then turn it off put in two ram... no luck.

read in tweaktown.. i should up the mch.. to 1.2 tried that..

with ep43-ud3l.. all of these components worked well together... the reason i tried ep45 was matrix 1+0 and cooler northbridge.. ( ep43 was hot..)

I love my UD3P, Have my Q9550@4.25ghz running 2x2gb Mushkin ram

I would leave the bios on default settings for the moment. I can run ram in either red or yellow slots without issues.

I cannot recall ram rimings, but it looks like your trying to tight of timings which would cause it to beep like that. Its either something really simple and stupid or you could possibly have a defective board. Being that you can run 1 stick just fine, i am going with; its a simple error.

Recently I built a system using the EP45-UD3P with Crucial Ballistix 800 Mhz DDR2, 4 sticks, all dimm slots populated and I had 0 problems.
And it was rev. 1.6 too and BIOS FB, Q9550. No problems at all!!!
And now the system is even oced got the Q9550 @ 3.4 Ghz. Put memory running 1:1.
Have you tried to run memory in SPD?
